Anis' AEP Diaries 3.1 - Missed The Train

Season 3 : Episode 1 🎀  Thursday, February 15th 2024  Tick, tock, tick, tock...  At this time around, we have reached the last and final season of Anis' AEP Diaries as she makes her way to *drumrolls* graduation! What a long, long way it has been. I would like to give a pat on the back to all students who have made it through the last term because it goes without saying we were all in a pit! On our plates, we had stem congress, musical (the president of making everyone's schedule busy), exams, volleyball games and so much more in between.  In our last classes, AEP acted as a "brake" for us lot who is full speeding all term long. As a result of that, classes have been more lenient as we step away from the academic syllabus and engulfed ourselves in the world of origami and speeches! It was filled with laughters, and officially became super memorable to see everyone loosen up once in a while.  Who would've thought that I would be re-enacting Susan B. Anthony's ...

Blog 3.1 - Ayse

Hi everyone! So, I know this blog post is fashionably late, but better late than never, right? Let's rewind to our recent class after finals week-it was a blast! During our first meeting, I was about 15 minutes late to class, I believe this was because of a Musical meeting. Sadly a reason as to why I missed out on the part where Miss Disa taught the class how to tie a knot T-T. Luckily I didn't have to make one myself, I received a knot from Miss Disa instead! woot! woot! We then proceeded to make origami frogs, by observing Miss Disa folding the paper step by step! It felt nostalgic, bringing me back to the 8th-grade experience. Not only did we create frog origami, but we even had an intense race. My frog went head-to-head with Mister Albert and his tiny yet mighty frog, courtesy of Izzah. Let's just say, size definitely didn't matter in this showdown! As I was panicking for my frog's life, Albert was laughing alongside Izzah. Very unfortunate I know. We will have ...

Blog 3.1 - Almost there (Nurhanis Grade 12)

Oookayyyy I'm back. I don't remember when was the last time I did a blog but I know for sure it was a long time ago. Anyways close eyes, open eyes it's already the last term of this school year. This only means one thing. I'm GRADUATING 👏👏 Honestly speaking, everything feels so surreal. I can't believe that my highschool years are about to be over in like a month or so.  AEP classes right now are very random in a good way. Well mainly because of the Cambridge trials happening and I'm part of it and so I've been in and out of classes and my time management is going everywhere. I've been procrastinating with work because my reason is that I'm tired and burnt out. I personally don't like that reason because everyone else is tired not just me so why can't I finish work on time?  The first thing that I'm remember is the sort of art class that we had. It was very relaxing 😎 I remember the struggle in making the 'monkey knot'. If I mu...
AEP has been a phenomenal experience. By phenomenal, I mean a lot of things (including Miss Disa, the lingering classical music and the barely visible Smartboard. They all add up to being 'phenomenal'. I love phenomenal omg that word is so pretty. We started out with Grammar. Lots of Grammar. The basic stuff. It all seemed so easy at first until we moved to Dialogues. A big fat book about different dialogues and how to imply them. Do you know what a Socratian dialogue is? I do. No I don't. No I do. I'm talking in Socratian dialogue right now (I hope you're proud of me Miss Disa HAHAHAHAHAHA)  But that's all the boring academic stuff. You don't need to worry about that, dear reader 😪😪. Anyways, we start off the class with Wordle, to relieve the brain of all the capitalistic horrors (it's only just Wordle). Before delving into the exquisite details, I should talk about Gigi. I'm sure you all know her. The teddy bear on the chair by the window, wrap...

AEP BLOG #3.1 - Summer Rose S. Valdez

Wow, to think that the eventful and action-packed term 2 has finally come to an end really messes with my perception of time.  Seriously, where does time go when lost?  School and personal life can often be overwhelming, but I always find myself rather calm upon entering the AEP classroom.  This class truly has something special that words cannot describe.  I will be entirely honest:  the past few weeks have been absolutely tiring mentally and physically for me due to personal matters.  But I always find myself smiling in AEP, as if all the problems never were.  Now, let me expand on those special moments in AEP where life’s issues are forgotten. March 12 - Word Game Day With certain people absent for Cambridge mock exams, we spent the entire lesson playing away at fun little word games.  It was an enjoyable lesson for sure, having our minds challenged but in a calm, stoic environment.  Having some sort of “rest day” after the Mu...

AEP- Blog #3.1

HELLO FOLKS! YEP, I'M BACK! SCARED? AS YOU SHOULD BE!!! LET'S GET TO IT! We had no school this Monday because it acted as a rest day for all of our hard work from the musical. So that meant we couldn't do AEP that day. However, school started again the day after and we had our AEP lesson on that day too. So I will be telling you the events that had happened on that fateful Tuesday. 12/3/2024 Since we only had one period, we only played word games the entire time. Also since there were 4 students who had their Cambridge mock exam, we couldn't do a vocab quiz either. Therefore we just played word games the whole lesson.  We all warmed up in the beginning of the class by playing Squaredle. There were 17 words left that were out of 117!!! Obviously that would be very difficult for us to do since that usually means that the words that were the hard ones, the ones I didn't even know exists!  So we only guessed a couple of words or so until we finally moved on to another ...

i stopped counting the blogs at dis point

Ah boy here we go again Another week, another blog about random stuff. Holy hell everything moves so fast that I feel like I could take a nap and suddenly miss 21 different events. it's a little odd when you get pulled out of your usual schedule and are forced to do a practice exam but like 'they' say: "practice makes perfect." also been rewatching RVB, kinda sad cuz Rooster Teeth decided in a Hail Mary attempt to earn some of that sweet moolah that they should make a large majority of their shows paywalled on yt and you have to use the inconsistent official Rooster Teeth website that is absolutely plagued with stunky add that no one wants. yeah more ads than YOUTUBE ,  AND THEY'RE ALL UNSKIBBABLE BECAUSE OF COURSE THEY ARE AND YOU GET 4 OF THEM EVERY EPISODE (some at the start and then some midroll ads). I know it is to push people to join their site and subscribe to FIRST but Oh ho hoh man... that is a level above despicable.

Blog 3.1 - Adi's Inferno - 8th circle

A blessed morning to everyone and Ramadhan Mubarak! This marks the start to the Third Semester and you can now watch us all slowly descend into the madness of Cambridge AS exams and the second phase of the Stem Congress for us poor poor Stem takers. Anyways, it's Ramadhan though so we must remain positive and halal as much as possible!!!!!!!! What happened since the last blog I wrote? Finals, Musical, and now Mock exams... Okay! For the AEP finals, I can say I was utterly flabbergasted. Was 100% fully expecting a crossword like our usual exams but Miss had us scour our brains and wracking up memories to remember how we answered the seatwork paper she originally gave us? The exam was just a repeat of that. I memorized MOST of the answers but I couldn't get 100 on these finals this time :((( well I'll be damned. Next, the musical!!! Oh boy. Three months of hell for that whole ordeal to be over in 10 minutes flat. Three months of hell for a few seconds of applause. I have a l...

AEP Blog #3.1 “A little DRAMAH!”

Welcome back to another super sweet blogger blogging day! Blog created by yours truly. The past few months have been a chaotic mess of emotions and experiences, and as I sit down to recount it all, I can't shake the overwhelming feels of exhaustion and gosh am I dreading this(Okay, this sounds like a bit TOO much but to be honest it really was like this)  The highlight of the last few months was definitely the Musicale experience at Samsung Hall. Months of preparation and anticipation all put together for a preformance in the evening for family and friends. It coudlve been better if it wasnt for the timing, or the circumstance I guess. But regardless, the night was pretty interesting. A good way to meet friends you havent met for a while and to reconnect with the magic of preforming on stage.  Through the indefinite amount of schoolwork we are given. there is still A levels to worry about.I just wish it was something more to care, rather than an ultimate ending kind of ...

Blog 3.1 — calmer(ish) days | Alisa | Grade 11

Helllooooo term 3 !!!! First blog of the semester, and so far, I’m feeling pretty confident with myself. With the musical done and enjoyed, it’s much less stressful when there’s less to think about. And yes, although Cambridge exams are approaching, I’m hoping I’ll be able to use the new vocabulary I learn in AEP in my English papers! It’s always fun to use new words when I’ve just learned them, haha. Anyway, AEP has definitely been much more relaxing since we started learning different lexicon. I’m looking forward to getting to know more advanced vocabulary in the future! As always, thank you miss for making our classes more engaging :]] it’s way better now that we’re using paper instead of our gadgets for our activities since we won’t be having any more technical issues hehe

Blog 3.1 - moving too fast? - huda g11

From juggling multiple homework and exams to participating in the musical, parliament, varsity and maintaining a social life, the days seem to blur together in a relentless stream of busyness. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos and lose track of time, which left me constantly feeling like having to keep on picking myself up again to start the next new thing. Despite the chaotic nature of this school year, it's important to take a moment to pause and give ourselves a small break. I think that is where AEP comes in line. With the moderate pace of learning new vocabulary, which I have found to be very useful considering I've passed by many familiar vocabs as I go on with my studies ehehehe, AEP gives me a sense of pause to my hustling life with its conversation-filled lessons incorporated with productive discussions on the words as well as the inclusion of what I would see it as “old-style” learning. The idea of bringing back the usual norm before covid of ‘pen and pape...

Greetings 3rd Term!- Meral- AEP 10- Blog 1

Welcome to the third term! It's quite startling how swiftly time flies; soon enough, we'll find ourselves finishing this school year. With the closure of the musicals, the school atmosphere is bound to return to its familiar routine, presenting both positive and challenging aspects. Fortunately, AEP has been sailing smoothly, though upcoming challenges, particularly in adapting to essays about Maps, are on the horizon. But before delving into that, let's revisit February 27th, our first day back after finals. That particular day brought an unexpected twist from Miss Disa as she unveiled a new craft: the art of creating monkey fist knots. We eagerly dove into the world of intricate knots by following a tutorial on YouTube. Despite my efforts, I found myself wrestling with the elusive "baby in the cradle" maneuver, struggling to keep it securely in place. Eventually, I resorted to a bit of creative intuition, knotting the string in a more freestyle fashion and ended...

Looks can be deceiving - Haziq's first third term blog

I'm here to give a summary of the events of the last few weeks, even though it seems like it has been forever since I last wrote my last blog. On our first day back , nothing much was going on except us playing numbers of entertaining games such as "connections", our warm up game "squardle" and a new game called "tiles" in which we are supposed to match the tiles that have the similar components.Though it sounded easy , it is however quite tricky because we have to check every single detail and if made a mistake , the streak will be gone. On the following day , we have an unexpected switch up in which instead of writing essay , we did what miss thought was and art jewelry but instead a rope that is used as a hand-to-hand weapon .At the start , it was easy to follow along the Youtube tutorial but once i reached the middle part , my brain become discombobulated . The were so many wrapping to the point the rope got stuck between my fingers .After a whole...

Mapping Out the Last Weeks — Leo's First Third-term Blog!

It's a little late writing this at nine o'clock in the evening, but that's because I've been so overwhelmed by the musical that I had completely forgot that school was a thing. I digress! There may have been countless of new things that have flourished throughout the final weeks of the second term, and the first week of the third, that I've probably forgotten, so I'll be using Padlet to help re-experience the pains of preparing an entire musical production with the addition of classwork! We aren't allowed a complete respite during any AEP classes, unless Ms. Disa is out on holiday, and it was proven when we made monkey-FIST knots before the finals! We were given a thin and long piece of rope that we were expected to make a weapon out of ... and you would normally expect that a rope could not be used to murder someone (unless you tie a noose around them), but what do ya know?! There's such thing as a yoyo weapon that could maim people! This long piece of ...

ARTS COMEBACK!?!?!? - AEP10 - Janek - BLOG#1 - TERM 3

Reflecting on the recent musicals and revisiting our Padlet, it might seem like we haven't accomplished much, but upon closer inspection, a plethora of new experiences have emerged. Let's delve into this blog to uncover the latest happenings! Arts Comeback! During one of our recent sessions, we immersed ourselves in the realm of creativity, where the intertwining of words and knots crafted an unparalleled experience. On February 27th, our classroom, as usual, was ensnared in boredom. However, thanks to quick thinking from Miss Disa, we were engaged in an unexpected art activity that diverted our attention from impending finals. Each of us was provided with a knot to tie, and amidst my confusion, I found the process oddly refreshing. As I crafted my own "monkey fist" knot, I pondered its origin and stumbled upon its history as a weapon. While miss Disa initially viewed it as a decorative accessory, the revelation added a layer of intrigue to our activity. Despite the p...

Monkeys & Maps- Chloe Lloveras- Blog 1 T3- AEP 10

The finals are finished. Term 3 has now started. To put it plainly, the finals weren’t too bad. We received 2 essays each to write: the first about brick-making (which we were informed about beforehand) and the second about how liquid chocolate is produced (a surprise). I’ll admit that I was quite nervous at first, but, when I started writing, the words just flew right out! I’m happy to report that I got a 95% as my overall score! Hooray!  Now, back to business. Our first day back to AEP was a relaxing one. We played an abundant number of word games like “Squardle” and “Connections” as our reward for our hard work from the finals. We got to play a new game called “Tiles,” which is like a matching game of different art components.  I even got to tie my first money fist knot after following a tutorial on “YouTube” for an hour. The last step was the trickiest because it required the string to be tightened in all of the nooks and crannies surrounding what we called “the baby in th...

Beginning Of The End - Blog 3.? - Aire M.

I guess you could say this is the beginning of the end. As the last term begins, I can’t help but wonder how time can feel so slow and fast at the same time. Moments filled with boredom feel honestly nothing in the grand scheme of things. It’s quite terrifying how the school year flew right before my eyes. I can still remember my first day here at FIS back in grade 7, and it sounds cliche but it really feels like yesterday. Now, as we’re approaching the last term, I can’t help but feel a sweeping sense of ending, as one of my favorite book characters describes as she graduates from high school. I'm not quite there yet, but it is scarily exciting to think of our time next school year, as grade 9. But enough talking about the past and future. Let’s talk about what we did this week! :) 03/04/24 On the board was an unfamiliar face, the familiar presence of Squaredle now replaced with the uncertainty of Dordle. As the robot we overworked last week - Adelia - malfunctioned, it was ...

Blog 3.1 - Crafts and Speeches! [Izzah] Gr12

Crafts! This lesson for AEP, we got to be more hands-on with our activities, instead of writing or reading anything we learned to be more practical, and that is, by learning how to tie knots into cute little keychains or a WEAPON. As well as making origami frogs have a tense competitive competition, the survival of the fittest frogs. Tying a knot seems harder then most people think, you need to be very good with moving your fingers around a string, Hanis and Darren's fingers were literally blue doing the activity, and a lot of us struggled with keeping the baby in the string, it was hilarious to watch each other attempt at being patient. With a few anger issues popping out from a piece of string, it was surely a fun activity to complete despite the stress of our musical coming up. Hanis’s baby ball really turned out nicely, I wonder how she's so patient with it. In the end, it was just me smacking my defective ball on the table and on Nurin, very entertaining.  Our nex...

Nurin’s AEP Adventure (Term 3 #1)

Hey blog!!! Under some ciscumstances, I have relapsed into my old habits of procrascination and I’m really not proud of that :,) But that’s okay, I’m still in progress and of course I’m gonna have ups and downs. Embracing any chance to change myself for the better, always. Anyways, IT’S TERM 3 ALREADY?!?!? My my, time flies like a speed jet to space. I’m like a leap away from graduating and that thought scares me, in an exciting way. I cannot even imagine yet what the future holds for me and I’m eager to find out. For now, nothing much is going on except for preparations of the musical production on March 9th. So I’ve just been really busy with dance trainings and rehearsals here and there. Expectations are really high for the Grade 12 so we have to give it our best and perform to our fullest potential.  I have been putting off works in the last moments of previous term. I got my Cambridge exam result and it brought me back down to my dark pit, I never want to get out of there like...

Aleena Imran - Blog 3.1 - Grade 8.

It has been a while since we have written a blog. During this time, many things have happened. We had our final examinations, which was pretty okay but I feel like I could’ve done way better, especially on social studies. We also had many after school practices for our musical, which was always exhausting since we always reached home late. I was always devoid of sleep which added to the overall tiredness. But all of that doesn’t change the fact I have to write this blog. And as usual, prepare for another one of my amazing and long blogs !! Let’s start, shall we? March 04, 2024 - A new Worksheet !? Before we started off with the worksheet, as usual we played a warmup. But this time it wasn’t the typical games we played, it was Dordle. I’m not completely familiar with how it works but I do remember that we got it in around five minutes. Yep! That’s how good we are. The Dordle game contained two words we had to guess, which was below and ahead. It was a new week, so of course we had...
