Beginning Of The End - Blog 3.? - Aire M.

I guess you could say this is the beginning of the end. As the last term begins, I can’t help but wonder how time can feel so slow and fast at the same time. Moments filled with boredom feel honestly nothing in the grand scheme of things. It’s quite terrifying how the school year flew right before my eyes. I can still remember my first day here at FIS back in grade 7, and it sounds cliche but it really feels like yesterday.

Now, as we’re approaching the last term, I can’t help but feel a sweeping sense of ending, as one of my favorite book characters describes as she graduates from high school. I'm not quite there yet, but it is scarily exciting to think of our time next school year, as grade 9.

But enough talking about the past and future. Let’s talk about what we did this week! :)

On the board was an unfamiliar face, the familiar presence of Squaredle now replaced with the uncertainty of Dordle. As the robot we overworked last week - Adelia - malfunctioned, it was sent back to the factory with a new robot in its place; Zahrah. (A joke only us g8 will get.) Using our new brilliant strategy from last week (using 4 words to get all letters in the alphabet but 5) we got the words “below” and “ahead” with little to no effort exerted.

With the pleasantly hasty warm up completed, Miss prepared for our next activity while telling us her own tale. As she moved her things from one end of her room to the other, she told us of how she traveled to Batangas, participating in a race and getting 4th place. There was a wind that came from the mountains, and that put her in a bout of sneezes. Apparently a sneeze can break a muscle. It’s also travels 100 miles per hour! Sid was kind enough to provide us with a demonstration.

Storytime’s over. A collective groan could be heard as Miss handed out our new worksheets (or maybe that was just me ;’). Jokes were exchanged of Mysha finishing the whole worksheet all in 1 day. Miss gave us a lot, however, and #8 prevented Mysha and I from progressing further into the worksheet, instead choosing to complain about it (lol). A few minutes passed, then we handed our paper to the person left of us and checked our answers until #4. (And now you realize how far Mysha and I were into the worksheet.)

Time for the main event, vocab! Miss assigned each of us 2 words, and we searched up the meanings. Thankfully, I already knew the definitions of mine (calamitous and cite), so I just got to chill :>. We were instructed to find our words on a word search, which most struggled on, going over the word search multiple times and not being able to find their words. I can’t quite recall who, but someone suggested to scroll up, as there might be some more rows above. And lo and behold, there were. The groan heard was more synchronized than our musical dance :’).

Following shortly after the word search, we learned the definitions of each word, and of course not without Miss misclicking some of the options so they were to return later on. We breezed past it as usual, yet there was a slight confusion… We struggled in differentiating the definitions of quirk and outlandish. Miss explained that quirk is a mannerism, whereas outlandish is something bizarre and could be anything. I also recall Kuk taking his time to figure out the definition of one of his words, so Miss waited as she tapped her foot to the music playing on her speakers.

Upon entering Miss’ room we were once again greeted with Squaredle, now only a few words left. I took in holding the pen, and proceeded to get shouted random words at by a certain someone (Hyeono I'm looking at you). After some slight struggles, we finished.

Next Miss gave Aleena the pen and let us to study vocab. We finished with ease. Afterward we continued with our wonderful worksheet, in which I had a slight struggle on, to be honest. It marvels me that Mysha even got to part 2, and I did as well, yet I only like half answered some of the others :’). I do look forward to the opportunity to get to do better :)

And with that, this week’s blog comes to a close. Love y’all!

IM THE MAP! - Janek - Blog 2 - T3 - AEP 10

Although maps have always held a peculiar charm for me, a fascination sparked during childhood by watching episodes of Dora the Explorer and her indispensable map, my relationship with them has evolved. Previously, a map was a guide to travelling to places, a tool for discovering new café locations on trips, or simply a way to marvel at rather weird corners of the globe. However, my recent academic assignments have altered my perception of maps, making them less of an object of intrigue and more a source of stress. Essays have made maps worse! Before, engaging with a map never entailed writing an essay. If my father discussed a historical map, I’d happily delve into a verbal explanation rather than penning an analysis. But now, as a student in an Advanced English Program, essays have become a standard expectation. Tackling these assignments has been a significant challenge, turning my once enjoyable encounters with maps into a draining task. It’s clear now that the essays, not my exhau...

Miss Disa is back! - AEP 10- BLOG#4- JANEK

Now that the exams have finally concluded and the stress has lifted, thanks to the break and the high AEP spirit, it seems inevitable that a blog post is in order! The past weeks have been some of the most unusual and unpredictable I've ever experienced in AEP. With a few new faces, Miss Disa's absence, and sudden activities, let's delve into the latest updates on AEP. A Sudden Disappearance? On January 7, just a day before AEP's classes resumed, I felt a sense of fear. Fear that I might have forgotten something, a feeling I often experience. Despite this, I had to enter the class with confidence. However, my expectations took an unexpected turn. Miss Disa was nowhere to be seen. She had apparently left for the UK, and has not yet arrived in the Philippines. This had left many of us  confused, yet simultaneously relieved. No work, no stress! All we had to do was sit in the Filipino class doing nothing. Initially, that's what we thought, until a notification popped u...

Nurin’s AEP Adventure (Term 3 #1)

Hey blog!!! Under some ciscumstances, I have relapsed into my old habits of procrascination and I’m really not proud of that :,) But that’s okay, I’m still in progress and of course I’m gonna have ups and downs. Embracing any chance to change myself for the better, always. Anyways, IT’S TERM 3 ALREADY?!?!? My my, time flies like a speed jet to space. I’m like a leap away from graduating and that thought scares me, in an exciting way. I cannot even imagine yet what the future holds for me and I’m eager to find out. For now, nothing much is going on except for preparations of the musical production on March 9th. So I’ve just been really busy with dance trainings and rehearsals here and there. Expectations are really high for the Grade 12 so we have to give it our best and perform to our fullest potential.  I have been putting off works in the last moments of previous term. I got my Cambridge exam result and it brought me back down to my dark pit, I never want to get out of there like...
