Straight To The Past — Leo's LAST Blog!

As I look at the blogs of all the other people, I realize I may not be in the headspace to be able to write as much as them. So, I'll keep it short and simple: this year has been a changer for me. Writing this at 12:42 AM with only a nap worth one hour, I'm currently living my greatest life being bound to a gaming chair for the last 4 ... 5 ... 6 hours? I lost count. Anyway, the reason why I am doing this so late is because I have my IGCSE Computer Science exam tomorrow, and I've been studying countless of nights for every single subject ... a day before. It's okay though, because I do expect a lot from just a day of studying! A runback to my original blog, my first blog titled "Back To The Future", I am headed straight to the past! This year, you could probably say I've drastically plateaued in the level of my English. I wouldn't say that I improved, but that's only because whenever there's something new, there's more to learn, and I am st...

Weathering The Storm — Leo's 3rd Term 2nd Blog

With midterm exams around the corner, and two days of the calm before the storm, will Leo be able to overcome the storm? Or will he be swept up in the whirlwind of insanity? The short answer: no. The long answer: this entire blog! Welcome to my third term second blog, where I will unveil the crazies that have been fumigating the airs of our classroom. To even call them "crazies" may be an understatement, as we literally talked about a doorbell for fish for 10 minutes straight in an advanced English classroom. I'm not complaining, just stating what happened! Speaking of, what about that? It was an interesting sight—a black screen. I shouldn't really be making fun of it, sincerely. I did go online right after school, searched it up, and watched it for the entire day. The doorbell is fun to click on. Maybe I am one of those weird people who ends up spamming the button to attempt to get something out of it. I digress.  As you can tell, I'm getting detrimentally cuck...

Mapping Out the Last Weeks — Leo's First Third-term Blog!

It's a little late writing this at nine o'clock in the evening, but that's because I've been so overwhelmed by the musical that I had completely forgot that school was a thing. I digress! There may have been countless of new things that have flourished throughout the final weeks of the second term, and the first week of the third, that I've probably forgotten, so I'll be using Padlet to help re-experience the pains of preparing an entire musical production with the addition of classwork! We aren't allowed a complete respite during any AEP classes, unless Ms. Disa is out on holiday, and it was proven when we made monkey-FIST knots before the finals! We were given a thin and long piece of rope that we were expected to make a weapon out of ... and you would normally expect that a rope could not be used to murder someone (unless you tie a noose around them), but what do ya know?! There's such thing as a yoyo weapon that could maim people! This long piece of ...

Struck Down Like Lightning — Leo's Fifth Second-Term Blog!

Monday morning is when all the fun begins! We started with a wonderful game of Squard— I mean, Waffle! It is, of course, all of our favorite game to play on a wonderful morning! Nothing like a good word-making through combining different letters in a line! Hope that rings a bell. Nonetheless, we did do the exercise a wee bit too fast, maybe a little too-too fast? Sans the screaming at Naboni, we sure did do a pretty superb performance on a regular website! It was a very simple game. Welcoming a new student to the class (once again), Victoria joins the party! And then she was bombarded by another essay ... nothing like a good first-hour essay. It was another essay about concrete production which we have seen a good three or four times, so not only was I well-acquainted with it, but I was spectacularly writing as fast as a lightning bolt striking an umbrella, which supposedly happens—never seen it happen in real life (and hoping it does not happen to me). It was a challenge because ...

(You Drive Me) Crazy — Leo's Fourth Second-Term Blog!

Wheew, with a fortnight of dreamless nights complimented by a freckle of melatonin depravity (or a whole abscess), it's hooray to another day of surviving school! With only a day of rest and a head full of science, I am writing this blog with high hopes that the next few weeks are going to be less ... hectic, to put it simply. To feed the curious mind, let's recap! January 7 was the first day we came back, and the students were rambling for their second period on a Monday morning; nothing like a good game of ... nothing! No elective teachers during the period, and both Filipino and AEP students were stoked alike. With a short-lived celebration, we all realized we had work to do ... on the first day of school after the New Years. Me, I thought of it as some warm-up for the next few mundane lessons. I got on with both the essays, writing to my heart's joy from a well-rested break, which Ms. Disa was still having in the middle of Great Britain. One essay about concrete and ce...

Congee — Leo's Second Term Second Blog

Writing this before and after hectic weeks is truly something to be excited about. It feels nice to have 2 days of unforgettable laxness before school savages into your brain and makes it as mushy as congee (or as foreigners call it, porridge). Honestly, seeing the to-do list for next week, my brain already is mushier than congee—you can even call it water. However, this is not the time to talk about the morbid demises in the future, especially before Christmas! Let's talk history! The first Monday after writing the last blog, we were given another . . . Squardle! With 65 words and 40 minutes on the clock, we did a whopping 50 out of the given 65, which is spectacularly not very spectacular! I do not recall any of the words unfortunately, but from what the others have said, it was tough for us. I guess we just had a bad day, because the next day . . . The next day, Tuesday, we were given another Squardle! Under 10 minutes, we unveiled 25 words, which we were able to start off our l...

Welcome Back — Leo's First Blog (Again!) 2.1

Welcome back to Blog #1, reported by the most wonderful person of AEP, Leowyn Chiang! But most importantly, I'd like to give the warmest welcome to our new student: Kirani! Speaking of, during the start of out first class of term 2, Kirani had control of the magic pen, required to swing the wand around like a fairy! Until an ogre kept on disorienting her by announcing a plethora of random words ever while I was trying to say my own set of words. The game was Squardle—a game of word connection similar to a cross word puzzles, but you have much more freedom to form words, much less freedom to find words—so we were not able to complete our first warm-up game 😞, but it lasted the entire lesson, only because we took a strange while . . . Janek lost pen rights too! However, the day after, we did a new warm-up game that was quick and simple. Maybe not new, but an old one that my classmates did when they were back at grade 7. I was unaware, but it seemed like it was new for the students a...

Peace, Or The Lack Thereof — Leo's Fifth Blog

Today, I'm ill and feeling almost deceased. I'm typing this with a sore throat, a nose that is almost, literally, running, and eyes that wish not to open. Well, that may be an exaggeration, but I am quite sick, so my head is failing to recall any of the past activities; I'm only living off of my hands' muscle memory, which is really monkey say, monkey do.  Despite that, I snatched Padlet as my assistant for this blog today, although I do not know whether applications can consent to some minute labor. Starting on Monday, we played a not-so-rigged game of "Contexto". We got very close guesses, already starting at blue with "berry". We just had to inch closer and closer to the word, but we did the exact opposite. We started going downhill, attempting the most random words just to see if we could get anywhere near the word.  We got the word "lemon", which was at a score of around 10, and that allowed us to put our thinking caps on and exuberant...

Learning to Breathe — Leo's Fourth Blog

RAHHHHHHHHHHH! Today marks the day of the fourth blog! The entirety of the weeks following the last blog was all about learning about essays and learning about time management, because we had way too many suspensions on a supposedly normal Monday morning. Regardless, I have learnt a lot over the interval of these blogs. Although, I doubt I can remember the specifics, like Janek in his blog. Let's see as we go through the menagerie of random thoughts I've cultivated over AEP class! We'll start off with the spotlight of the class: the project. DUN, DUN, DUN! On a duration of 10 days, we had learned how to ... drum roll ... breathe! Using an app, named "Balance", we had to do a course where we learnt meditative skills. It was difficult during the first session (yes, breathing was difficult), since I was often stressed and hated feeling like I was spending time doing something that would waste precious minutes, but it was my grade, so I had to do it. The project was ...

A Pet Rock — Leo's Third Blog

Third blog of the month, and I'm starting to experience the most sluggish days ever. It's like when you have a pet rock and you're taking it out for a walk. One, you don't actually know why you have a pet rock, and two, you don't know why you're walking a pet rock. You just go with the flow, which is exactly how this week went by. Tugging the frayed strings of the rudimentary leash that I've created, we began the week with the first period of AEP. Thankfully, it was an amazingly soaked day, drenched in the showers of the heavens above. If only clouds were actually tangible, maybe I could strangle one for getting me sopping wet during the bike ride to school. Despite this, though, I'm grateful for the droplets of (probably polluted) rainwater that hailed over the school, because we did a friendly game of Scrabble! Before the period, we good-naturedly chaffed with Haziq. As the newest addition to the class, and a former member of ESL, he was still perusin...

The Rules of The Game — Leo's Second Blog

What a perfectly fine day to complete the second blog of AEP! Continuing our week, we made sure to cultivate a productive time for assignments and lectures. The first blog explained what I was expecting to encounter, and our expectations were basically fulfilled within the two classes. The rules of the game are simple. For instance: 1. We were introduced to two new warm-up wordle games that were named "Diffle" and "Evil Wordle". Diffle is quite fun, with us having to scour for a word with any length, it's impossible to be inerrant. Evil Wordle, on the other hand, was simple. A bit confusing, but different, nonetheless. 2. We had our first vocabulary quiz! We had to study 20 words and ready ourselves for the "Wheel of Doom". It was an immediate pick, so we'd have to stand and spin, and then explain the word. The word I got was 'opulent', fancy and ostentatiously lavish. I was successful in defining it and creating an example. We'll have ...

Back To The Future — Leowyn's 1st Blog

Welcome back to one of Leo's hilarious blogs of the famous class of AEP! I have read the last few blogs from the grade 8, and it is indeed amazing to be reminded that I'm now one of the seniors! (Well, it's slightly scary). However, I can't say I'm not eager to learn about what's going to happen this year. My initial thoughts of AEP, when I first came, were quite dull and different. But now, I'm great to be back, writing to my heart's content.      Before heading right into the future, let us take a trip down memory lane. Last year, we learnt grammar. It was a year of preparation for the preparation of IELTs. To say I haven't been warned about how much the essays seem to pressure would be a definite understatement; I have been fearing for writing words on a piece of paper for a few minutes. Anyway, I digress. Perusing my last blog post in grade 9 has not been fun, reminiscing how much effort I decided to splatter into typing it. Last year, we be...
