Aleena Imran - Blog 3.1 - Grade 8.

It has been a while since we have written a blog. During this time, many things have happened. We had our final examinations, which was pretty okay but I feel like I could’ve done way better, especially on social studies. We also had many after school practices for our musical, which was always exhausting since we always reached home late. I was always devoid of sleep which added to the overall tiredness. But all of that doesn’t change the fact I have to write this blog. And as usual, prepare for another one of my amazing and long blogs !!

Let’s start, shall we?

March 04, 2024 - A new Worksheet!?

Before we started off with the worksheet, as usual we played a warmup. But this time it wasn’t the typical games we played, it was Dordle. I’m not completely familiar with how it works but I do remember that we got it in around five minutes. Yep! That’s how good we are. The Dordle game contained two words we had to guess, which was below and ahead.

It was a new week, so of course we had a new worksheet. I don’t really enjoy solving worksheets because it tests me on the most random concepts. It might be nice sometimes to learn new things, but today I was not feeling it. I was slower than usual, which made me jealous of other people who were faster. I didn’t know I could search the definitions of words up, which led me to wasting time on one particular question.

While I was doing it, I was on the first page while the others were on the second or third page, Aire called me out and said “you’re still there?!”. I wasn’t trying to let other people's faster paces bother me, so I just ignored her.

March 04, 2024 -  A Vocab Review

It has been a while since we did any vocabulary quizzes or vocab reviews because of the exams and other things. We have done many units and were already one unit 11, it felt like we started unit one yesterday. Forget unit 1, we were on unit 11! Before doing anything, Miss Disa assigned us each with two words, I had the words appease and belated. Which I already knew before the class.

It was time to start the review, but before doing the definitions game, we did the word search first. Aire kept on bragging about the fact she found everyone’s words, not really sure if she was bragging but she didn’t stop talking about it. But the fact we could only circle our two words, prevented Aire from circling our words. But sometimes, some of the girls were too lazy to go up and made Aire circle it. A few minutes later when everyone had finished circling their words, we started off with the definitions game.

It was going well, everyone was giving the definitions of their words when it was their turn. Hoping to get 20/20, Miss Disa happens to accidentally misclick TWICE, which caused us to get 18/20. After all of that, we ended with our padlet with 15 minutes remaining. Overall today was quite typical and calm.

March 05, 2024 - A Vocab Review, Again?

For our usual warmup, we had our favorite game, Squardle!! But it wasn’t a new game, 15/24 words were already done by grade seven. So we continued and guessed the next nine words in five minutes, easy peasy! But in between, we would guess bonus words and Sid would shout out “Bonus Ducks!”. It’s quite normal to hear that when we guess bonus words.

It was one period only, plus the classes were shortened which meant we only had 40 minutes. Since we can’t do much in that time, we decided to or Miss Disa decided to review vocab again. We did the definitions one again, and around halfway through it, Miss decided to sit down and give me the pen. I was the teacher now and the first thing I hear is “Miss Aleena!”. I now had the responsibility over the class, and I felt what Miss Disa feels as a teacher, students yelling and screaming. Not students, but there was this one student, constantly talking and not being quiet, we all guessed it, it’s Hyeono.

March 05, 2024 - Continuing the worksheet..

There was only around twenty minutes left in which we had to continue the worksheet. I was only able to finish around two more questions since I’m quite slow at the worksheet. But I feel that’s alright, because everyone goes at their own pace. The worksheet was about inputting letters into a paragraph, which essentially completes the paragraph or text. The letters represented a specific word in which you would find the correct blank to write in. The next question was to connect the definitions with the terms, it was about jobs. I felt like the worksheet was quite average and overall easier than the other worksheets we did. I’m looking forward to more easy worksheets like these !:)

IM THE MAP! - Janek - Blog 2 - T3 - AEP 10

Although maps have always held a peculiar charm for me, a fascination sparked during childhood by watching episodes of Dora the Explorer and her indispensable map, my relationship with them has evolved. Previously, a map was a guide to travelling to places, a tool for discovering new café locations on trips, or simply a way to marvel at rather weird corners of the globe. However, my recent academic assignments have altered my perception of maps, making them less of an object of intrigue and more a source of stress. Essays have made maps worse! Before, engaging with a map never entailed writing an essay. If my father discussed a historical map, I’d happily delve into a verbal explanation rather than penning an analysis. But now, as a student in an Advanced English Program, essays have become a standard expectation. Tackling these assignments has been a significant challenge, turning my once enjoyable encounters with maps into a draining task. It’s clear now that the essays, not my exhau...

Miss Disa is back! - AEP 10- BLOG#4- JANEK

Now that the exams have finally concluded and the stress has lifted, thanks to the break and the high AEP spirit, it seems inevitable that a blog post is in order! The past weeks have been some of the most unusual and unpredictable I've ever experienced in AEP. With a few new faces, Miss Disa's absence, and sudden activities, let's delve into the latest updates on AEP. A Sudden Disappearance? On January 7, just a day before AEP's classes resumed, I felt a sense of fear. Fear that I might have forgotten something, a feeling I often experience. Despite this, I had to enter the class with confidence. However, my expectations took an unexpected turn. Miss Disa was nowhere to be seen. She had apparently left for the UK, and has not yet arrived in the Philippines. This had left many of us  confused, yet simultaneously relieved. No work, no stress! All we had to do was sit in the Filipino class doing nothing. Initially, that's what we thought, until a notification popped u...

Nurin’s AEP Adventure (Term 3 #1)

Hey blog!!! Under some ciscumstances, I have relapsed into my old habits of procrascination and I’m really not proud of that :,) But that’s okay, I’m still in progress and of course I’m gonna have ups and downs. Embracing any chance to change myself for the better, always. Anyways, IT’S TERM 3 ALREADY?!?!? My my, time flies like a speed jet to space. I’m like a leap away from graduating and that thought scares me, in an exciting way. I cannot even imagine yet what the future holds for me and I’m eager to find out. For now, nothing much is going on except for preparations of the musical production on March 9th. So I’ve just been really busy with dance trainings and rehearsals here and there. Expectations are really high for the Grade 12 so we have to give it our best and perform to our fullest potential.  I have been putting off works in the last moments of previous term. I got my Cambridge exam result and it brought me back down to my dark pit, I never want to get out of there like...
