Anis' AEP Diaries E2 - Left Behind the Train Tracks

Wednesday, 18th October 2023, 2:31pm  What Happened?  Never mention the timing of this blog because it is a spider web, in my brain. Supposedly, blog #2 was supposed to be due ages ago – but for I am only a human (with a bad habit of procrastinating) – I have left this one out for far too long. However, I will still take this opportunity to really consolidate what took place within those times to make sure I see the efforts I’ve put in!  One thing that I appreciate about the Grade 12s AEP students is that we never back down from any word games. Be it with the ones that will take us 45 minutes, best believe that we will sit there and finish everything. We have went from wordle to squardle to diffle and so much more.  Presentation  Consolidating from our past lesson, we have completed our topic in mastering the art of presentation. From the language we use, to the font size, to the volume of our voice – every nook and cranny have been talked through to tackle all ...

Blog 1.3 - Getting used to it. [Izzah] Gr12

Writing our Future.   We are now working on our Cover Letters and our Resume. Ms. Disa gave us a document on tips and templates for us to learn from. Starting my cover letter was pretty hard, however after reading for examples and looking at templates, I’m getting the hang of it and actually starting to enjoy it. Writing my resume was quite fun, it was like looking back into the past and my life in school, kinda nostalgic. However, it was pretty uncomfortable at first, writing only good things about your self feels a bit awkward, however I’ve gotten used to it and realised that maybe i am not such a inactive person. Doing this task has made me realised that i should maybe be more active and participate in more organisations and activities to benefit my future. I should partake in activities beneficial to my resume such as being in organisations, varsities, participating in the Model United Nations. Getting back on track . Term 1 is almost coming to an end, I’m starting to get the h...

Blog 1.3 - Writing resume to my future that I can't see (Nurhanis Grade 12)

A long time it has been! I could barely remember the last time I wrote a blog. Now I've gotten all cranky at it again :( Well I'm just here to share about the journey of me in AEP class.  After the midterms, we started a new chapter which involves resumes and CVs. The first meeting after the midterms, we did a quick topic check just as an overview of what we're gonna be doing for the rest of term 1. The pdf Ms. Disa sent was so long that I just didn't try to read everything. I skimmed through but truthfully, I didn't remember anything that I read. I should've read it because the pre-quiz was everything about that.  Before anything though, we did an activity on Miro where we play dress-up Barbie. I think it was one of the most exciting activity we did. One of the reason is because it's dress-up. As a girl, who doesn't like playing dress-up? I genuinely enjoyed the activity because I could fulfill the child innocence inside me. I could be free and choose...

Blog 1.2 - Loosing Motivation. [izzah] Gr12

Loosing Motivation     My second blog is way long overdue, I remember to have been working on the presentations. My first presentation went okay, presenting about my different interests in different topics including art, history and sports. My overall presentations , in terms of speaking, I lack my public speaking skills. Although I speak in a confident tone, I often stutter and stumble upon my worlds. My body language tends to be very awkward and cold as I face my back towards the audience often and tend to only make eye contact with one person in the room. Although most people improved in their presentation in the final one, I still lacked a lot of skills in comparison to my peers. I still lack in my communication skills. I feel that I need to thoroughly practice my speech and body language before the presentation. Now that I know the overall foundation to a well, great foundation, I am now able to fully prepare my presentations for other subjects ...

Blog 1.3 - Ayse

First week This week was the week after our major subject midterms. We did our midterms in AEP. I was so nervous when I saw the piece of paper. Answered all the questions, and although I was not confident in a lot of them, I did better than I anticipated. Secondly, this day was four days through my meditation sessions. I was on a roll with a 4-day strike!  It was time for our final presentations. I talked about my recent interest in books. I chose 1 topic only, as Miss Disa stated. After I finished my presentation and sat down back on my chair, I definitely felt the improvement from my first and final presentation of this term. I realized how focusing on the main topic, and giving details but not going too far from the main focus is really important while presenting. Another point I took note of is the importance of knowing your audience. For instance, if the listeners don't know what the book you are talking about is and have no interest, try to grab their attention by talking mor...

Anis' AEP Diaries E3 - Jumping on Lily Pads

Tuesday. 17th October 2023, 6:43pm Skipping off blog #2 is a guilt – but I’m starting anew with blog #3!  Won. Wonky. Weird.  As long as I know in myself that I’m trying my hardest, I know I have won. Recently, my experience in school has been wonky. It’s quite ironic how even in my senior year, it could still be rocky, especially in terms of separating my personal life from my school life. Because truth be told, the line gets very blurry sometimes. Within these past few weeks, I find myself facing a stack of works to be completed whilst juggling AS Cambridge retake revision as well. #tough  I love word games. Out of line but I just really needed to put that one out hahahaha.  Anyway, in all seriousness, I’ve begun to sit with the uncomfortableness and embrace the weirdness of it. By this, I mean getting lost along the way – given one of the examples, which is my relationship with AEP. It has been inconsistent but of course, that is mainly due to my lack of en...

By The Skin of My Teeth — Leowyn's 6th Blog

Good, wonderful afternoon! It is the 19th hour of the day, and I had just woken up from a deep slumber! Yes, it is indeed late to be writing a blog, but the due date is tomorrow, so I have some time. I would normally do it a day before the day before the due date (also known as two days before the due date, but it sounds fancier this way), but this week and last week has been way too hectic for me to do any of the work early, let alone a day before. Even just yesterday, I had to study for 2 quizzes, a song for music, and multiple homework that lethargy is taking over my system, but I digress. We shall move on to the greatest part of this blog: the blog itself! Having Padlet as my assistant, again, because I cannot keep on remembering everything with the amount of homework and projects we're getting, I will be talking about the last two weeks of AEP before finals! Really, maybe Padlet should be paid for working as my personal assistant. Moving on, we started the second-to-last week ...

An Exhilarating Episode- Meral- AEP 10- Blog 6

The preceding week in AEP unfolded as an exhilarating episode! The balance of indulging time on leisure activities while also progressing further in learning was delicate yet rewarding. On Monday, our AEP class commenced with the warm-up game of Squardle. The round consisted of a tremendous amount of 73 words, with 15 words pre-filled, thereby challenging us to tackle the remaining 58. After several minutes, we managed to complete it along with a few bonus words as well. At this time, I developed a newfound appreciation for Squardle as I realized approaching the letters as a crossword helps me a ton when brainstorming on all the possibilities! Next up, we read an article in DOGOnews titled, "Adidas "Super Shoes" Help Tigist Assefa Shatter Women's Marathon World Record". When I heard we'd be reading an article, I put on my "excited shoes" since I derive great pleasures from delving into perceptive articles as such.  As Miss Disa had instructed, we e...

AEP blog 6

'Nother week, 'nother blog. I  don't really have anything extra to say from the past one. Quite uneventful. Though I have to make these for a grade, I guess I'll stall like a dual regen for now. (I'm not gonna explain the reference) School feels like a lot in the moment but little when you reflect on it. That's kinda a thing the brain likes to do; things that feel quick actually are quite long and vice versa. It hits hard when outside it doesn't look that bad then once the weekends end it's a real slog. Whoa don't really know where that rant from the previous paragraph came from but I guess this is enough to count? I can't make a closer for the life of me so I guess this is end blog.

Done, Done, and Done!- Chloe Lloveras- Blog 6 T1- AEP 10

Done, done, and done! We've been checking off a lot of things on our to-do lists lately. So much productivity! But since this is the last AEP blog for term 1, let's give it a proper send off, shall we? On Monday, we played "Squardle," which we were surprised to find had a total of 73 words. Someone had already had a go at it and managed to find 15 words, meaning we only had to figure out the remaining 58. We spent about 10-20 minutes on this. Everyone was so enraptured to figure out more words that we just couldn't stop! And to be honest, I loved every second of it. "Squardle" is this fun class game that brings everyone together and gets us to let loose.  But after the fun, of course, we moved on to the real agenda for the day: "DOGONews" articles. We hadn't read one in so long that we all figured it was high time to do one. This article in particular captured our interest as it was about Tigist Assefa winning a marathon supposedly thanks...

Blog 6 // Mysha M

It's really quite astonishing that I've already blankly stared at my computer contemplating AEP  6 times . I swear, just yesterday was August. Amongst all of my many, many homeworks, only this one struck me with some variant of excitement. Hopefully, after I finish this, I'll have finally scavenged enough motivation to begin something else. Well then, enough rambling. This is an AEP blog, not a Mysha-complains-about-normal-things blog. Let's begin.  On Monday we spent a tiring long time on squaredle. Usually, this game begins with us spouting words left and right, but eventually, we run out of all the simple words and just stare at the screen, coming up with a word or two every five minutes. After the first period ended, Miss assigned us a vocabulary seatwork. The seatwork wasn't too unpleasant, most of us did struggle with the types of school section, but we're not British so that's not our fault.  On the next day, Tuesday, we kicked it off with an old fa...

AEP-Blog #6

Hello and welcome to Blog 6!!! This blog will be a bit shorter than my other blogs since I was absent on the first AEP session this week. But from what I can tell, I'm assuming my classmates simply played some word games and did a seatwork Ms had assigned to them. On the second day, we started off with Quordle. Which was great since I felt like we haven't played it for quite a while. The game was alright in the beginning, until... it wasn't. It felt like we weren't going to be able to figure out all the words, but we tried to think more carefully and visualize the letters for each box more closely, and we got it!!!! All 4 words!!!  Then, Ms Disa gave us a sort of practice test that we had to discuss in groups. The assignment was that we had to read an extract and identify what each paragraphs' subheading would be. My group had Zahrah, Sid and Dharanika. We discussed the possible ideas of each paragraphs content to create a subheading. Out of all of us, I personally...

AEP Blog#6 - Dharanika (grade 8)

Hello everyone welcome to my blog😊. This week made me struggle a lot (more work)😭 I am gonna start the blog fast hehe. 10/09/23 As usual we started with Squaredle, for warm up. We had a hard time doing that and I was the person who hold the pen so it was scary. hyeono got mad at me, because I don't know the word spelling(some words). We did that for 1 period, but sadly we just got 6 merits. Then we did the vocab words meaning each person 2 words. I was searching a lot at dictionary but then I give up searching 😸. I asked zahrahs phone for searching (Easy work), we discussed the meaning of every word. And after that we did an individual seatwork with made me think so much. 10/10/23 Today we played a game Quordle, we finished that without any tries left. Then we moved to a group seatwork, my group members was me, zahrah, Sid , adilia I was lucky because they were the three brains in our group, they carried me and explained me clearly 😁. Now I changed my mind It was an lucky and t...

change. - Janek - AEP10 - BLOG #6

The past week unfolded in an unexpected manner, catching many of us in class off guard. It was a departure from the routine, leaving us stunned, akin to the sensation of savoring a warm soup and then stepping out into the cold. This week brought about significant changes, the kind that demanded a momentary pause to absorb it all. Excitement surged within me, a sensation long absent. What were these changes, you might ask? SQUAREDLE: THE NEW HURDLE In every aspect, SQUARDLE emerged as the top contender, surpassing its predecessor, Hurdle. While Hurdle had enjoyed class favoritism for a considerable period, Squaredle now claimed the throne. Another wordle-based game, Squaredle proved more engaging than not only Hurdle but also other wordle games. Unlike its mundane counterparts, Squaredle delivered a refreshing gameplay experience, from which I derived genuine pleasure. Hurdle, reminiscent of childhood games, involved arranging letters to form specific words, a task ranging from four to ...

AEP BLOG 6 - Summer Rose S. Valdez

It is time for yet another blog.  Oh, how fast time flies.  I remember writing the fifth blog of the year in a panic, less than an hour before the clock strikes midnight.  Here I am again, yet this time I have plenty more time.  I do enjoy writing these blogs very much, as they feel like a breath of fresh air compared to the other homeworks we are assigned.  This time though, I feel a bit pressured to meet some people's standards for my blogging after the feedback I received from the previous one.  However, seeing how much my blogs have improved feels incredibly inspiring.  It feels great to look back on past blogs and see how far i've come.  Ah, sorry to keep you waiting.  Sometimes, my fingers start typing before my brain could even process what I am doing!  Without further ado, let the chaos begin!         October 9 - Squaredle Struggles     As per usual, our...

Zahrah, Gr8, Blog #5 (sorry im late)

  * sigh * , 2nd blog to write after the midterms. This week felt very short honestly. Our class sometimes struggles so much in the warmup game that it takes a whole period to get it (depending on the game). 1st day of this week, had us doing our warmup game for the first period and seatwork on the 2nd. 2nd day of this week, as per usual, starts of with a warmup game. This warmup game specifically was squirdle. It also follows up with a vocab quiz. This vocab quiz was different than the way we did before. We all stood up. It was a vocab quiz with a last man twist/mix/plot. It was interesting.🤔 Lets see what next week will bring!!!

Aleena - BLOG #6 - Grade 8

Back with another blog this time. Except, it’s extremely long. This week has been pretty hectic. Upcoming quizzes, projects, more homework and other assessments I have yet to accomplish! Also, final examinations are getting closer each day. Which means I have to study harder and hope for the best. Whoops! I kept you waiting for the blog. Okay here it is! October 09 -  A Chaotic Squardle Game From the time we started till the time we ended, I’m telling you, there wasn’t one minute of silence. There was always at least one person shouting. It was almost the end of the school day, and you could tell, I had no clue what the class was doing. Me, who doesn’t get enough sleep, was exhausted. But that didn’t stop me from participating in the game. The more words we got, the harder it got. As the easy words were guessed, we were left to ponder the remaining words, which was a bit difficult.  I found this tiring but on the bright side it made me communicate and work out the words...

"Dramatic Warning" - Blog 1.6 - Aire M.

Hello to all of my adoring fans out there! And, when I say adoring fans, I mean pretty much no one. I know I get around 5 views each blog but it doesn't feel like much does it? I remember the first blog I wrote; being really successful with 70+ views. Only problem is that it had low quality since it I didn't really know how to write these. I still  don't really know how to write these. But I go ranting anyway. When I write these blogs, I just hope everything works out. I'm sorry if my thoughts are all over the place. It's always been like that. Whenever I would tell a story, I usually forget some parts so I'd have to restart multiple times just to be able to complete the story. With that being said, let's begin the blog! 10/09/23 Today, we did the usual: Struggle With Squaredl e ™️. We suffered  played the game for a whole period, with the promise of 7 merits if we complete it. We ran into multiple creative-blocks, slowing down our process. Miss pitied us so...

AEP Blog #1.5 " Adjacent scenarios"

Good day, dear readers!  Today, as I sit down to pen (well.. more like type) another chapter of my life in this cozy little corner of FIS wonders,,, I can already hear the sighs of students knowing the fact this week is the equivalent of stress week. All quizzes, added with how we have.. 1st term FINAL EXAMS! Its the big boss, the first among the three.  Regardless, as I scratch my head, gazing out the window at the.. buildings (okay.. I really cannot sound poetic in Manila) , I find myself pulling my hair out because of exam week, which is just around the corner.  But theres always our favorite English class, AEP. Yes, you heard it right. Nowadays, AEP is not just another english subject; it's a motivating force to be honest, urging me to rise above the chaos of quizzes and assessments that threaten to whack my sanity. It's like a room where all the weight of the land of.. well.. schoolwork lifts off my shoulders as soon as I step into Ms. Disa's classroom. Before I dive...

New and Fun!!- NABONI- AEP10- BLOG 5

Hello there! I hope everyone is doing well. This week in AEP, we had the opportunity to explore some exciting new methods for studying the materials we've learned in the past. On Monday, we learned a new, more effective method for studying vocabulary lessons. Each of us was assigned two or three words and tasked with quickly discovering their meanings. The words I received were "Disperse",  "Venial" and "Esteem." Afterward, we all took a quiz on the vocabulary test website, answering multiple-choice questions related to the words we were assigned. I can say with confidence that this method helped me to better digest the meanings of the words, as I can still recall all of the definitions from the list. This also made it easier for me to prepare for the vocabulary quiz, which was held the following day, on Tuesday! During the first period, we had a vocabulary test, with the wheel of doom. Fortunately, I managed to get both of my words correc...

AEP Blog 1.5 yay

Back with another short blog this time. Not much to talk about, it's only been a week since the last blog. But I do prefer these short blogs they're easier and more fun to write.  On Monday we did some vocabulary work. Not a quiz. That was for Tuesday. We studied the words and defenitions in unit 4 during class instead of studying them at home like usual. Miss didn't want us to have more work since we already had to do our blog. And she also mentioned it seemed to work better and allow students to memorize the defenitions easier. I enjoy this way of doing this though. Everyone was assigned 2 to 3 words and given about 5 minutes to find the defenitions. Then we'd go one by one matching words to their defenitions in the test accesible through the same website we use for our vocabulary quizzes. Excited to do this again tommorrow!   On tuesday we started off with our vocabulary quiz about the words we learnt on monday. I got all my words correct so hooray! Afterwards i ...

Blueberries to Brushstrokes- Meral- AEP 10- Blog 5

This new week in AEP class began with one of my personal favorite, Contexto! We started off strong with the word "blueberry", scoring us low points, signifying close association to the actual word. However we drifted further with every new fruit or vegetable we typed out, leading us to discover the word "cinnamon" thirty guesses after! I don't think I'll ever understand what context Contexto references to steer word game players to the correct term. I mean, how does "blueberry" relate to "cinnamon"? *searches Google* Oh, interesting! Apparently blueberry cinnamon rolls are a thing. Next up, Miss Disa opened "vocabtest.com" on the smartboard. Luckily, we weren't surprised with a pop quiz, rather Miss wanted to introduce and familiarize us to the set of twenty words in Unit 4. To make it interactive, we were each assigned two or more words to search up their meanings in the dictionary. I got the words "panacea" and ...

Mysha M // Blog #5 - Oct 8

Roll your sleeves up gang, it's time to cram again. Another blog, so fast? Well, I'd take up any opportunity to talk about myself (just kidding I'm humble I promise). In the 150 minutes of AEP between this blog and the last blog, quite a bit has happened. On Monday, October 2nd, we kicked off the lesson with Squaredle, which took a lengthy one-period (Side note: I barely remember anything on this day). Afterwards, in our assigned groups (I was with Zahrah and Kuk), we did seatwork and talked about tips we could use in English exams. On Tuesday, we had our first vocabulary quiz in a while. My wonderful, brilliant, self had completely forgotten about this, so I, Adelia, and Aire, hiding in the prayer room, furiously studied the flashcards that Aleena had shared with us the previous night (thank you Aleena, my knight in shining armour.) Fortunately, I was already familiar with a majority of the words, so I didn't have much struggle. We did the quiz differently this time, i...

Blog 1.5 AEP10 || Illness, Woe, and Other Blessings || Shasmeen M.

picture of me ruminating on life in bed on Tuesday I can't believe it's barely been a week since we returned from camping! Aside from AEP, these past few days have been a lot. Let's break it down a bit: from a cough that's been sweeping throughout the school, to the looming specter of quizzes next week, an unhealthy amount of after-school excursions, and heaps of assessments I have yet to accomplish, there truly has been a lot of exciting development. Making decor for Teacher's Day (which also happens to be Miss Disa's birthday! Happy belated, Miss!) and an extremely late-evening gala were the cherries and icing on the already wobbly cake. But I digress! As students, we must march on. Slowly. Since I'm still pretty drained. Monday morning unfolded in classic Monday fashion: with the mind-bending, contortionistic Contexto. We were off to a good start with Janek's unwaveringly insistent suggestion of "berry". And then it seemed a good start was ...

AEP BLOG 5 - Summer Rose S. Valdez

Because there has been a long period of time wherein we did not write blogs, I nearly missed this one.  Thankfully, I remembered about it whilst going home from the tiring, yet exciting cat show we participated in.  I am now writing this blog in a panic, but at least I get to recall what I have learned from the previous week.        October 2 - Valuable Test-Taking Skills     I have always thought that one of the most vital parts of having excellent grades is possessing good test-taking skills.  After all, tests, especially exams, make up most of your grade.  For the entirety of the first period, we have struggled with Squaredle, often bumping into roadblocks where we can not think of any more words.  I am well aware that we have not fully mastered this game yet.  Although I miss the games where we easily win in, watching us as a class improve at something we are not good at is ver...
