Aleena - BLOG #6 - Grade 8

Back with another blog this time. Except, it’s extremely long. This week has been pretty hectic. Upcoming quizzes, projects, more homework and other assessments I have yet to accomplish! Also, final examinations are getting closer each day. Which means I have to study harder and hope for the best. Whoops! I kept you waiting for the blog. Okay here it is!

October 09 -  A Chaotic Squardle Game

From the time we started till the time we ended, I’m telling you, there wasn’t one minute of silence. There was always at least one person shouting. It was almost the end of the school day, and you could tell, I had no clue what the class was doing. Me, who doesn’t get enough sleep, was exhausted. But that didn’t stop me from participating in the game. The more words we got, the harder it got. As the easy words were guessed, we were left to ponder the remaining words, which was a bit difficult.  I found this tiring but on the bright side it made me communicate and work out the words with my fellow classmates. Which was extremely fascinating. Sadly, we weren’t able to guess all the words in time. Which was really devastating as I was really looking forward to accomplishing the game. Oh well, better luck next time!

October 09 - Preparation for the Vocab Quiz #5

It was pretty much the same as last week. But this time, Rayan was back with us. We each got 2 words to find the definition of, which was super easy. When it came to the time when everyone had finished looking for the definitions of the words, we had started the Vocab game. Somehow, both of my words came first. Which was surprising as I didn’t expect for that to come first. As normal, everyone had gotten their words. Until it came to Rayan, who had a hard time in Aep. I’m not sure what word he was given, but he was the only one who didn’t get the word's meaning correct. Which led us to getting 19/20 in the game. It’s alright, because I know he will improve overtime.

October 09 - Seatwork

This seatwork was slightly hard but not easy. I had to write and answer the type of dress given in the picture. But there was more. We had to match words with their meanings, except these words I wasn’t really familiar with. I found this seatwork pretty fun to say the least because I was able to learn the different names of dresses. I didn’t know there were names for dresses (literally I didn’t know these dresses existed). Welp, that concludes it. I found this day extremely interesting and entertaining. I hope we have more Aep meetings just like this one because Oh boy! Was it super fun!

October 10 - Quordle

Playing Quordle after a long period of time, felt sort of strange. As warmups, we would always play Squardle which I’m used to. But playing a game which we did back in Grade 7 was really refreshing. There’s so many games out there such as Wordle,Waffle and many more. I tend to forget which one is which. We were able to successfully finish the game in 5:56 minutes (yes I remember that). Playing Quordle brought back so many memories, sometimes we really struggled in Quordle (back in grade 7) or easily accomplished it under 6 minutes.

October 10 - Continuation of the Seatwork ;0

This seatwork which we did was a bit hard. But we were able to do it. My group members were Kuk, Mysha and my dearest, wonderful Summer. I feel like Summer and Mysha pretty much carried the group, but I tried my best to contribute. As I was reading the text, they had already started to answer, which left me behind. Eventually, I catched up and figured out the answers with them. I’m not sure if we were correct, but at least we answered it.

I had always found English difficult and stressful. I never thought I could do these things including hard seatworks and Squardle. But doing these things all together makes the learning experience much more enjoyable and amusing.

“When working together, difficult tasks become achievable.”

Thank you.

IM THE MAP! - Janek - Blog 2 - T3 - AEP 10

Although maps have always held a peculiar charm for me, a fascination sparked during childhood by watching episodes of Dora the Explorer and her indispensable map, my relationship with them has evolved. Previously, a map was a guide to travelling to places, a tool for discovering new café locations on trips, or simply a way to marvel at rather weird corners of the globe. However, my recent academic assignments have altered my perception of maps, making them less of an object of intrigue and more a source of stress. Essays have made maps worse! Before, engaging with a map never entailed writing an essay. If my father discussed a historical map, I’d happily delve into a verbal explanation rather than penning an analysis. But now, as a student in an Advanced English Program, essays have become a standard expectation. Tackling these assignments has been a significant challenge, turning my once enjoyable encounters with maps into a draining task. It’s clear now that the essays, not my exhau...

Miss Disa is back! - AEP 10- BLOG#4- JANEK

Now that the exams have finally concluded and the stress has lifted, thanks to the break and the high AEP spirit, it seems inevitable that a blog post is in order! The past weeks have been some of the most unusual and unpredictable I've ever experienced in AEP. With a few new faces, Miss Disa's absence, and sudden activities, let's delve into the latest updates on AEP. A Sudden Disappearance? On January 7, just a day before AEP's classes resumed, I felt a sense of fear. Fear that I might have forgotten something, a feeling I often experience. Despite this, I had to enter the class with confidence. However, my expectations took an unexpected turn. Miss Disa was nowhere to be seen. She had apparently left for the UK, and has not yet arrived in the Philippines. This had left many of us  confused, yet simultaneously relieved. No work, no stress! All we had to do was sit in the Filipino class doing nothing. Initially, that's what we thought, until a notification popped u...

Nurin’s AEP Adventure (Term 3 #1)

Hey blog!!! Under some ciscumstances, I have relapsed into my old habits of procrascination and I’m really not proud of that :,) But that’s okay, I’m still in progress and of course I’m gonna have ups and downs. Embracing any chance to change myself for the better, always. Anyways, IT’S TERM 3 ALREADY?!?!? My my, time flies like a speed jet to space. I’m like a leap away from graduating and that thought scares me, in an exciting way. I cannot even imagine yet what the future holds for me and I’m eager to find out. For now, nothing much is going on except for preparations of the musical production on March 9th. So I’ve just been really busy with dance trainings and rehearsals here and there. Expectations are really high for the Grade 12 so we have to give it our best and perform to our fullest potential.  I have been putting off works in the last moments of previous term. I got my Cambridge exam result and it brought me back down to my dark pit, I never want to get out of there like...
