An Exhilarating Episode- Meral- AEP 10- Blog 6

The preceding week in AEP unfolded as an exhilarating episode! The balance of indulging time on leisure activities while also progressing further in learning was delicate yet rewarding.

On Monday, our AEP class commenced with the warm-up game of Squardle. The round consisted of a tremendous amount of 73 words, with 15 words pre-filled, thereby challenging us to tackle the remaining 58. After several minutes, we managed to complete it along with a few bonus words as well. At this time, I developed a newfound appreciation for Squardle as I realized approaching the letters as a crossword helps me a ton when brainstorming on all the possibilities!

Next up, we read an article in DOGOnews titled, "Adidas "Super Shoes" Help Tigist Assefa Shatter Women's Marathon World Record". When I heard we'd be reading an article, I put on my "excited shoes" since I derive great pleasures from delving into perceptive articles as such.

As Miss Disa had instructed, we each took turns reading one sentence, and concluded with a factual insight related to the topic. I recall it being an informative piece regarding the product details of specific shoes that costs a lot of money! It seemingly elucidated the distinctive features to advertise the shoes, with the purpose of making it stand out and prove it's worth the cost.

The following day, on our two- period session, we began class with yet another Squardle game. This time around, the words had minimized into a total of 22, consequently taking up less time for us to complete. Afterward we had a review on the upcoming Vocab Test pertaining to Unit 5. It was supposedly today, at the time I am writing this; however, I didn't attend school so I believe I'll have to answer it on my own time.

Anyway, as we had the last time, Miss Disa gave each of us two words to define using a dictionary. With the words "clemency" and "dearth" designated to me, I commenced my search on Merriam-Webster. When everyone had finished, we did the Vocab Test on the website and formed the closest associations to the meanings of the words. Surprisingly, many of the vocabulary words were relative to one another to a certain degree, and relations could be formed, making it slightly more difficult to derive to a final answer. Regardless, we swiftly passed through the review.

Last but not the least, we were given a writing task about the hourly duration youngsters spend weekly performing activities in Chester between 2002 and 2007. At first sight, the complicated outlook of the bar chart got me startled. It was like a jump scare since there were a lot of aspects to consider. This is where the planning bit came in handy!

I promptly clicked on my notepad app and jotted down the main points. Upon grouping the activities based on the performed timespan, I was off to get started on writing the actual essay. By the end of class, I had most of it done and by the time recess was over, all I had to do was submit it in Google Classroom.

In retrospect, I believe I did fairly well on the essay. When I checked the word count in Google Docs, I was surprised to find that I had written 238 words. I guess typing it out improves my essay's final output as opposed to writing it by hand. Nevertheless, I believe there are various bits in my essay
that could be further enhanced.

With the ever-so accumulated assignments and tests given in most subjects, I believe we can all agree that it has been quite hectic recently. Even so, taking a moment to blog is somewhat relaxing to me. Although we do have a fair share of work to do in AEP, I'm glad most of it is completed in class, enabling us to learn in an untroubled manner. Additionally the review for the vocab test has also been very useful, serving as an overview to the 20 words we get tested on the following week.

All things considered, as I mentioned in the beginning, I felt accomplished with how much we were able to do in the span of three periods in AEP class. As the final examinations draw closer, so does the AEP exam, which will focus entirely on writing essays. Naturally, this frightens me more than the midterm did, and I truly wish to do well. Thank you for reading this and I'm hoping to see you in the next one!

Signing off,
Meral

IM THE MAP! - Janek - Blog 2 - T3 - AEP 10

Although maps have always held a peculiar charm for me, a fascination sparked during childhood by watching episodes of Dora the Explorer and her indispensable map, my relationship with them has evolved. Previously, a map was a guide to travelling to places, a tool for discovering new café locations on trips, or simply a way to marvel at rather weird corners of the globe. However, my recent academic assignments have altered my perception of maps, making them less of an object of intrigue and more a source of stress. Essays have made maps worse! Before, engaging with a map never entailed writing an essay. If my father discussed a historical map, I’d happily delve into a verbal explanation rather than penning an analysis. But now, as a student in an Advanced English Program, essays have become a standard expectation. Tackling these assignments has been a significant challenge, turning my once enjoyable encounters with maps into a draining task. It’s clear now that the essays, not my exhau...

Miss Disa is back! - AEP 10- BLOG#4- JANEK

Now that the exams have finally concluded and the stress has lifted, thanks to the break and the high AEP spirit, it seems inevitable that a blog post is in order! The past weeks have been some of the most unusual and unpredictable I've ever experienced in AEP. With a few new faces, Miss Disa's absence, and sudden activities, let's delve into the latest updates on AEP. A Sudden Disappearance? On January 7, just a day before AEP's classes resumed, I felt a sense of fear. Fear that I might have forgotten something, a feeling I often experience. Despite this, I had to enter the class with confidence. However, my expectations took an unexpected turn. Miss Disa was nowhere to be seen. She had apparently left for the UK, and has not yet arrived in the Philippines. This had left many of us  confused, yet simultaneously relieved. No work, no stress! All we had to do was sit in the Filipino class doing nothing. Initially, that's what we thought, until a notification popped u...

Nurin’s AEP Adventure (Term 3 #1)

Hey blog!!! Under some ciscumstances, I have relapsed into my old habits of procrascination and I’m really not proud of that :,) But that’s okay, I’m still in progress and of course I’m gonna have ups and downs. Embracing any chance to change myself for the better, always. Anyways, IT’S TERM 3 ALREADY?!?!? My my, time flies like a speed jet to space. I’m like a leap away from graduating and that thought scares me, in an exciting way. I cannot even imagine yet what the future holds for me and I’m eager to find out. For now, nothing much is going on except for preparations of the musical production on March 9th. So I’ve just been really busy with dance trainings and rehearsals here and there. Expectations are really high for the Grade 12 so we have to give it our best and perform to our fullest potential.  I have been putting off works in the last moments of previous term. I got my Cambridge exam result and it brought me back down to my dark pit, I never want to get out of there like...
