Short. Sweet. Simple! - Chloe Lloveras- Blog 1 T1- AEP10

   




 Back at it again! The new school year has begun and AEP along with it. But this year, it comes with a twist: a much more jam-packed schedule and more essay-writing. Did I mention that the vocabulary quizzes are back and that blogs will be more frequent now? No? Well, you're in for a treat!

    We hadn't even met for the first session yet, but we were already juggling assessments like a syllabus quizlet, a "what's your English level?" test, and even a knowledge quiz about IELTS writing task one, something I haven't encountered before. When our first meeting did commence, it wasn't until a week later due to the heavy rainfall and strong winds so classes were canceled. As you might've guess, we were already behind and AEP hadn't even begun yet! 

Before starting, Miss Disa established the basics for the new school year:

1. Every meeting will begin with a word game with a five-minute time limit. If we don't finish in time, we'll still move on to the next part of the agenda. No more wasting time!

2. We'll be following the syllabus to the tee. That means, more essay writing and learning about IELTS writing task one.

3. To keep track of our assignments, we will be using the bulletin board located outside the AEP classroom and move the drawings that we made of ourselves according to each stage. The stages range from "Yipee, I've started" to "Done and dusted!"

4. Each time a task is completed, one minute of freedom will be awarded and added up over time.

5. Exit tickets will be written after every meeting on "Padlet."

6. The progress checks for each term would be as follows:

  • Diagnostic entry test for AEP (1)
  • Pre-formative quiz (2)
  • Project (2)
  • Vocabulary quiz (8)
  • Checkpoint quiz (4)
  • Final exam (1)
To kick off our first meeting, we started with a new word game called "Diffle." We guessed the word in five tries: "isolation." Afterwards, we proceeded to do a practice IELTS writing task one, which was a bar chart about British part-time and full-time students. 

Honestly, the task looked pretty simple at first. However, when I tried writing, my head went blank. I'm pretty sure it's due to the fact that this was my first time actually writing this school year. My brain's still trying to get back into the groove of things and, let's just say that what I produced was definitely not my best work. I realize now that it's going to take some time to get used to writing one hundred fifty words in only twenty minutes, but I'm willing to take the challenge! 

Speaking of challenges, I'm not sure if it's noticeable by the title of this blog, but I am trying to write in a more "straight to the point" manner. In essence, my goal this year is to convey my AEP experiences in a short, sweet, and simple way! I hope I manage to achieve this at least somewhat in this blog. 

To end off, AEP has already begun with a bang and I'm scrambling to keep up alongside of it. For now, I'll be working on my essay-writing skills. Fingers crossed that this school year goes well!

yet another blog for this week

 yet again we do the thing where we type what we remember about the stuff that happened this week. So, there's not much tbh, there isn't much going on other than I picked up EP again since I think I'm suffering withdrawal with notoriety getting taken down and I'm cooking some video I made with someone showcasing some stupid shenanigans. So yeah is fine cruising so far (but so far)

Blog 3.1 - moving too fast? - huda g11

  From juggling multiple homework and exams to participating in the musical, parliament, varsity and maintaining a social life, the days seem to blur together in a relentless stream of busyness. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos and lose track of time, which left me constantly feeling like having to keep on picking myself up again to start the next new thing. Despite the chaotic nature of this school year, it's important to take a moment to pause and give ourselves a small break. I think that is where AEP comes in line. With the moderate pace of learning new vocabulary, which I have found to be very useful considering I've passed by many familiar vocabs as I go on with my studies ehehehe, AEP gives me a sense of pause to my hustling life with its conversation-filled lessons incorporated with productive discussions on the words as well as the inclusion of what I would see it as “old-style” learning.
