Let's kick things off with March 12th. Our class commenced with two engaging word games: Connections and Wordle. While the specifics elude me, I'm sure it was enjoyable! Following the games, we wrote our first ever essay on the theme of Maps. Specifically, we explored the evolution of Farmshire village through the lens of two distinct maps.
As it was my first essay, Miss Disa provided meticulous feedback, pinpointing areas for improvement. Notably, many of my errors stemmed from the misapplication of certain terms, such as "repurposed," within the given context.
The subsequent week was abbreviated due to the Reading of Honors. Nonetheless, upon our return to AEP, we dove into a spirited round of Squardle, achieving an impressive tally of 65 words! Additionally, Miss returned our essays back, and by that time I knew essays were going to be a challenge.
On March 19th, we were introduced to a new game called "hello wordl" which was pretty enjoyable. Afterward, we thoroughly reviewed the previous essay and made corrections to an article found online. It was quite informative and helpful and I also got to note down a list of vocabulary I could use for my next essays as well as some tips when writing an analysis on maps. Talking of which, we then redid our essays for the second time, resulting in discernible enhancements.
March is done! We're now onto April 1, whereupon our return from the week-long break, and it's time for AEP! Miss asked each of us what we did during the break, and it was quite interesting and funny to hear the answers of my classmates.
The one-week break was a delightful respite for me, allowing me the freedom to rise at any hour and spend my days as I pleased. I found myself not sleeping after sahoor (around 3:00am) and now mornings are my favorite things! You already know I'm counting down the days until summer break. In fact, there's around 22 days left to go! We ended the class with the sweet old Squardle.
The next day, we begun class with the warm up game of Hurdle. Following that, Miss Disa showed us this site called "The fish doorbell". It's pretty cool actually- it's a live stream of aquatic life, wherein you ring a bell for every time you spot a fish. Currently, there are 363 viewers- and just now I think I saw a fish!
After that, we embarked on yet another essay assignment, this time about the transformation of an island from its original state to a modernized resort destination. Personally, I found this essay a lot more interesting than the first one, mainly because the changes were apparent, making it somewhat simpler to articulate the information into words.
That'll be it for this blog. Thank you for reading this and I'm hoping to see you in the next one!
Signing off,
Meral
