Hello everyone! Back again from the break. Now, time to head into school again. Yay...
(sorry lazy intro, I'm sleepy)
April Fools, 2024
After the week break, we warmed up with some Hurdle! I always loved our warmups, from Contexto to Squaredle, but never Hurdle. Honestly, what in the world are you to do? You know how many there are in the right place, how many there but misplaced... I felt like I was dragging my body through a battlefield, the letters on the screen stabbing me. The whole game was just me staring at the board, as Summer, Adelia, and Hyeono had their go at finding the answer. Summer finally put an end to my suffering got the word "overt" as our 7th try.
It's as thick as Hyeonseo's gya-
Once our little warm up (which honestly made me feel dumb) was over, Miss pulled out the worksheet for today. As the papers were passed around, a few complained on how thick the worksheet was. Adelia muttered that "It's as thick as Hyeonseo gya-" (She did finish the last word, but I dare not for the sake of whoever's reading this).
Finally.
At first, we were doing examples to get the gist of what we had to do (like practice), which at first glance seemed relatively easy to complete. We did a few examples as a class, and I was able to learn a few things on the way. Once we got past the example questions and got to the actual worksheet questions, Aleena muttered "Finally." Mind you, Miss Disa was right in front of her! Uproar filled my ears as Miss Disa explained that she should explain it to the "dumb people" in our class, pointing to Hyeono and Sid (lmbo).
True / False / Not Given
We went over some questions we have done in the past, and a new question. Those we've done before were now easier to me, as I was familiar with them already. Although, this specific one was surprisingly difficult, even if it was our first time encountering this question. We like to call this the "true false not given" question. I originally worded it as "a fine line between false and not given," but as we did more of those hellish questions, I soon realised it wasn't just between false and not given, but a whole gray area between all three. The 3 minute timer staring into my soul didn't help. If during the warm up I was dragging myself through a battlefield, I was now dragging my injured body through World War 3.
It was truth?!
As you may have guessed, there were quite violent reactions to the right answers to the questions according to the answer sheet given. I recall Miss saying the answer to question #10 for text 2 was true, and all of us shouting in frustration and denial. Apparently it was just an April Fools joke, and the actual answer was not given (from what I can recall). Honestly, the April Fools jokes... I'm tired of it already.
Miss Disa will dance
Miss made us skip a bit of the worksheet and suddenly jump to pages 18 and 19, with the promise that if we get it correct she'll dance (she was joking of course). Honestly, even with the examples and all the explanations Miss gave us prior, I still struggled. Thankfully, I and my peers were able to drag our now bloody corpses to freedom. That freedom, was of course, DOGOnews!
Miss opened DOGOnews and saw an article about... a fish doorbell? She said something about ringing the doorbell, and got all giddy. She was so giddy that she forgot to ask us questions on what the article was about afterward like she often would, and even let us read two sentences each person, where before we only got to read one.
The article talked about an interactive "fish doorbell" which was made to aid fish species in their migration. However, to preserve water levels, the lock is rarely opened in the spring. Mark van Heukelum, the Dutch ecologist in charge, set up a live broadcast on a website where viewers could ring a "doorbell" to notify the lock manager.
Now we understood what the fish doorbell was, we went to the fish doorbell website and got to watch for the fish while doing Padlet. The boys kept trying to convince Miss they saw a fish when she wasn't looking, but she didn't believe them (who would). After a few attempts at convincing Miss, I saw something flash in the corner of my eye... Was it a fish, or was I successfully being gaslighted? I figured it was the former, as the moment I saw it, all the boys were shouting "FISH! FISH!" at the top of their lungs, and it seemed as if they were telling the truth. Miss, however, was looking away, so she didn't believe them once again. Yet Summer spoke up, saying she saw something, and I mentioned I did as well. That's the only time Miss believed us (lmbo).
April 2, 2024
There's no better way to start an AEP period than with a classic, Deluxe Waffle. I was granted The Pen, and.... proceeded to just stare at the board while people shouted some words at me. No joke, looking at the board from the side makes it impossible to see the letters right in front of your face. Especially with Miss' board, which we all know isn't the best (the colors and kind of faded, and my angle made things worse). Since I was practically blind, I depended on my classmates to figure out words for me, and even Hyeono tried to help. I ignored him since like who would trust him (sorry nothing personal), but only did it when Adelia agreed with him (lol).
We reached a point where we were running out of swaps, and had to play smart. It was quite stressful, yet my classmates were able to get it, slaying the warm up with a total of 0 tries left!
Not given or true?
After the stressful yet satisfying warm up, we started a new (also thick) worksheet. Miss talked about trying to find the answer to a niche question, which she wasn't able to find the answer to (since it's niche!). The question was "If a phone number or website link was provided, but doesn't say that you can contact them there, does it count as not given or true?" (That's the best way I could've phrased it, sorry.) Honestly, though, that should've been true. Anyways.
You might think that because we had the same true, false, and not given questions the previous day we would've gotten better at it by now. But you couldn't have been more wrong. Honestly, we struggled as much as the previous day. Miss promised she would learn how to answer these questions herself, then teach us. At least one day we'll learn...
And with that, my blog comes to a close! Love yall<3
