The week kicked off with Waffle, a word game that involves rearranging given letters to form a grid of words- a challenge we swiftly conquered. Although this is not one of my personal favorite, I enjoy it for its simplicity and straightforwardness- a good option to quicken those dozy early morning hours.
Additionally, we extended a warm welcome to Victoria, the newest member of our AEP class. I hope she enjoys her time here! With that, we rewrote the Essay 1 on cement and concrete production- this time around without referring back to our previous writings.
At first, recalling specific words and phrases used in the sample essay, such as "the resulting mixture," and mastering sentence structures with transition words at various points proved to be quite hectic. However, with time, some of these elements started to come more naturally.
I think one of my writing mistakes was attempting to recall my previous words verbatim, rather than incorporating my refreshed understandings and learnings into a new expression, eliminating the need to create a duplicate.
But my major fault occurred in the last paragraph where I rushed through it in the final minutes. Having used the restroom earlier, my flawed sense of time forced me to speed through the final section. Now, upon laying eyes on Miss Disa's annotations in my notebook, it's evident where most of my mistakes came from.
The following day, AEP commenced with Squardle, a game known for its lengthy duration due to the numerous word combination to be created. Luckily, we got to finish it at a reasonable pace, successfully forming all 26 words.
Throughout this, I couldn't help but think about the Vocab test only minutes away. Despite having studied, I harbored a fear of forgetting the words, especially in the whirl of the spinning wheel.
Surprisingly, Miss Disa rescheduled the test for this week instead, allowing us to do one of the things we do best (not true but anyway)... Scrabble! I was paired up with Kirani, and confidently, we dubbed ourselves the winners, clinging to the title.
However, to our dismay, with each new vowel, the struggle became increasingly apparent. In the end, we didn't emerge victorious, but it was still an enjoyable game of Scrabble.
Last week sure was quite easy-going, suggesting that this week could kick off with a storm. We'll can never be entirely certain about what the future holds in AEP, but it certainly looks promising.
Thank you for reading this and I'm hoping to see you in the next one!
Signing off,
Meral
