Aleena Imran - T2 BLOG #4 - Grade 8

If I had to recall the last time we wrote a blog, that would be the 3rd of december. That would be 44 days. And in this period of time, we had our midterms and Christmas break or Winter break which I would call it. Either way, it has still been a pretty lengthy time since I’ve written a blog about my aep lessons. And honestly, it feels like we’re going back in time, how we used to write blogs every week. And i'm back here again, taking up my time to write this long, informative blog right after our aep classes.

Curious? Without further ado, let the blog begin!

Jan 15, 2024 - The Unexpected Vocabulary Quiz

Not even a few minutes into the class, we started off reviewing for the vocab quiz. Since Miss had lost something, we were not able to play our word games as we usually do. While reviewing for the quiz, Me, Summer and Aire started testing each other on the meanings of the words since Miss had said that she would test us from the definitions. Summer, Aire and I had already studied for the vocab 9, we were all prepared.  At this time, not a feeling of stress or nervousness was felt by us. 15 minutes later, the time had finally come. It was time for the vocab quiz. Anticipation boiled the room up.

Normally, while we would have a quiz, we would use the wheel of names, or have a worksheet filled with multiple choice questions. But it was totally  different today, we had to use our worksheets, flipped it horizontally to a  black space on a specific page. As Miss was about to reveal the definitions, the feeling of stress filled up the room. Then, we started. The fact that she was reading it slowly and taking more breaks in between her words, was freaking me out. The realization when the answer of number three to me was unknown, the rate of anxiety slowly and slowly built up. Not knowing the answer, Ms moved on to the next word. For the next 2-3 words, it was quite easy. Then, suddenly, I recalled the word for number three. A feeling of joy and relief filled up my body. As we finished, Ms went over the answers. Unsurprisingly, I got 10/10. Once we finished going over the answers, Ms had asked us for our scores. She said “Aleena, 10, right?”, “right” I replied. The room filled with laughter.

Though it was quite stressful, I still enjoyed doing the vocab. I very much look forward to doing more vocabs like this. Quite amusing to say the least.

Jan 16, 2024 - The Speedy Warmup

Once the class commenced, we kicked off with a warmup. Usually, we would do one game of maybe Squardle or Quordle. But no, this day was different. As a starter warmup, we began with Contexto. Normally, it would take us around 50-100 words to get the answer, but in this game we did it four! Yes you heard that right, FOUR! Who would’ve known. To make it even more surprising, Kuk was the one to guess it. Who would’ve guessed that?! Right after that, we kicked off with wordle. The classic, original game, the first warmup game we did back in grade seven. As usual, our starter word for wordle was audio, mainly since it contains 4 vowels and “D” is a pretty common letter. After three more tries, we were able to guess that it was blonde! And to remind you this, I wasn’t even able to do anything because of how quick they were.

Jan 16, 2024 - Checking Our Worksheets

Since it was one period, we didn’t have much left to do. So instead of playing more games such as scrabble or preparing for a vocab quiz, we decided to continue checking our worksheets. We mostly checked the last part, the multiple choice questions, it may be just three questions, but trust me it isn’t easy. I learned this from experience. I

actually found it difficult to answer these types of questions, as the writer puts tricks in the article/answers. It may look like the answer, but you gotta search everywhere in the text for any other possible answers. In the middle of reading the text, sid decided to search up on how to pronounce a persons name. Mind you, he was the one reading and carelessly decided to get his phone and search as we weren’t waiting for him to finish reading like two sentences. Once he searched about something else he decided to explain, but literally no one was interested and waited for him to finish, we called sid explaining “sidsplaining”. Not

much time left, so Ms just explained how to find these answers, which I found extremely helpful and informative. At the end of the class, Ms took back our worksheets. Lastly, we all wrote our padlet.

AEP BLOG 3.1 - Summer Rose S. Valdez

The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind of maps and musicals, and it's quite fun.          March 5, 2025 - I Went on A Vacation...Somewhere      We began with a unique warmup this time.  By turns, we all had to say a new place on the map.  Each person has to retrace the steps of all the previous and so on.  I did not do well, but I didn't jot down notes of everyone's locations on my notebook anyway.  It was a memory game.  Afterwards, Miss taught us how one can remember things by remembering a place they visit often - by associating the different keywords with different objects or areas.     After that, we moved on to worksheets.  These worksheets involved maps and places and tenses.  For some reason, I forgot the difference between the past tenses.  Thankfully, though, I remembered what passive tense was.  Simple English fundamentals like types of...
