 WELCOME WELCOME TO TERM 2!!!!!

My my what a fun day! So much went down in the last two weeks of the first and second AEP meetings of the new term.

But first, let me rant about the finals.

Oh my god.

STRESS STRESS STRESS!! No better way to describe finals. I'm not sure if this is just because this is the first finals for this new year but good heavens what the actual heck was that.

I know Grade 11 isn't easy but good god! You know what the worst part about all that stress was? I had plans of studying at one of my favorite cafes for my exams and yet I was bestowed the misfortune of having that cafe be full for the day that I needed to study before the exams. I cried as I reviewed at home because let me tell you, there was nothing I hated more than studying at home. I never get enough focus and nothing goes to my brain. (Part of the reason why I often stay after school to do my work)

Anyways, regardless of all that, the exams went pretty well (for me at least). I had the worst time of my life studying but the actual exams themselves weren't that bad. I flunked Bio but we're not talking about that.

How about my term break?

Surprisingly uneventful and incredibly sad.

I was sick for a majority of it so I was bedridden for a few days. Other than that, by the end of the week, I went camping with my dad in Baguio (Bad idea to do that right after recovering from a cold but hey what can you do?). It was pretty good since I like the outdoors and I like camping. But it was very very cold. Only Baguio weather lets me do things like dress up in layered clothing so I looked so fineee the whole trip.

But of course, school was quick to return and suddenly I find myself slaving away in front of a desk again.

Anyways, how was the first meeting of AEP? Miss didn't waste any time to have us start on our new lesson: Vocabulary regarding personalities!!

Of course, before we started, we had a little warmup game. This was some really interesting game called "My grandma went to the market and bought..." and you continued that sentence with a certain amount and an item. It was fun and we had like 4 or so rounds going around the group and I SURVIVED RAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

Very challenging but it does get very funny when you start mentioning things like buying alcohol, a crocodile, a gun, or even a Korean Superstar.

Soon after, we did a small seatwork first where we matched certain words to their meanings. These words were of course adjectives or nouns that you can use to describe people. That one was pretty easy and we learned some new words from it also.

The second period was especially fun since we had to pick out words from the Miro board that we say would describe ourselves and then we have to guess which bundle of words did other people pick to describe themselves. It started an argument and a big debate of course, but Miss seemed to be satisfied as it got us discussing all the words and definitions pretty intensely.

How about the second meeting?

We played even more of that "My grandma went to the market and bought..." game. It was just as fun but somehow easier as Miss told us to use an alphabetical order and to only include normal nouns and items. Kinda wished I could've said something like "18th century butler" or something but it was still pretty fun.

For the second round of the game, we changed the rules a little to incorporate the personality words we've been learning, so now it's: "Have you met my friend? They are very..."and you finish it off with a personality word according to the order of the alphabet too. This one was much funnier as new words like "xenial" and somehow even "furry" was used. Can you imagine meeting a person being described with all those words?

After that. Miss showed off some examples of these weird 1900s ads that men used to describe their dream wife and where to find one? I didn't really get it but it sounded like something of a 1950s version of a Tinder bio. Some of those descriptions were really silly and I quite enjoyed listening to all those descriptions.

Anywho, I've rambled enough about the past two weeks. Thank you for reading!

IM THE MAP! - Janek - Blog 2 - T3 - AEP 10

Although maps have always held a peculiar charm for me, a fascination sparked during childhood by watching episodes of Dora the Explorer and her indispensable map, my relationship with them has evolved. Previously, a map was a guide to travelling to places, a tool for discovering new café locations on trips, or simply a way to marvel at rather weird corners of the globe. However, my recent academic assignments have altered my perception of maps, making them less of an object of intrigue and more a source of stress. Essays have made maps worse! Before, engaging with a map never entailed writing an essay. If my father discussed a historical map, I’d happily delve into a verbal explanation rather than penning an analysis. But now, as a student in an Advanced English Program, essays have become a standard expectation. Tackling these assignments has been a significant challenge, turning my once enjoyable encounters with maps into a draining task. It’s clear now that the essays, not my exhau...

Miss Disa is back! - AEP 10- BLOG#4- JANEK

Now that the exams have finally concluded and the stress has lifted, thanks to the break and the high AEP spirit, it seems inevitable that a blog post is in order! The past weeks have been some of the most unusual and unpredictable I've ever experienced in AEP. With a few new faces, Miss Disa's absence, and sudden activities, let's delve into the latest updates on AEP. A Sudden Disappearance? On January 7, just a day before AEP's classes resumed, I felt a sense of fear. Fear that I might have forgotten something, a feeling I often experience. Despite this, I had to enter the class with confidence. However, my expectations took an unexpected turn. Miss Disa was nowhere to be seen. She had apparently left for the UK, and has not yet arrived in the Philippines. This had left many of us  confused, yet simultaneously relieved. No work, no stress! All we had to do was sit in the Filipino class doing nothing. Initially, that's what we thought, until a notification popped u...

Nurin’s AEP Adventure (Term 3 #1)

Hey blog!!! Under some ciscumstances, I have relapsed into my old habits of procrascination and I’m really not proud of that :,) But that’s okay, I’m still in progress and of course I’m gonna have ups and downs. Embracing any chance to change myself for the better, always. Anyways, IT’S TERM 3 ALREADY?!?!? My my, time flies like a speed jet to space. I’m like a leap away from graduating and that thought scares me, in an exciting way. I cannot even imagine yet what the future holds for me and I’m eager to find out. For now, nothing much is going on except for preparations of the musical production on March 9th. So I’ve just been really busy with dance trainings and rehearsals here and there. Expectations are really high for the Grade 12 so we have to give it our best and perform to our fullest potential.  I have been putting off works in the last moments of previous term. I got my Cambridge exam result and it brought me back down to my dark pit, I never want to get out of there like...
