AEP T2 BLOG 1 - Summer Rose S. Valdez

I have probably said this before, but I will say it again:  It's been a while since the last blog!  With Term 1 left behind our backs, we now face a new trimester of AEP.   A new chapter.  After experiencing the first trimester, the bar for this term must be very high.  I sure do hope Term 2 is just as fun and informative as the previous, or perhaps even more!  Speaking of which, I must improve myself as well.  Now looking at a fresh, blank, page, I am ready to take on what lies ahead.  Without further ado,  allow me to swiftly run my fingers along the keyboard and reminisce the happenings of the past weeks, once again.

November 6 - Surprise!!  Vocabulary Quiz!!

The very first thing we did this term was Squaredle.  Ah, Squaredle, one of the rare games that seem to be too difficult for our class.  Since the previous grades have already gotten most words on this game already, we found it challenging to find the ones that have not been thought of yet.  This game never fails to throw us off every once in a while, but after playing it a seemingly myriad amount of times, I can't help but feel that we have improved vastly.

The second meeting was incredibly unexpected.  In all the previous weeks of AEP, we have gotten an entire week to study for vocabulary quizzes at most, while sometimes having just 1 day.  But today, we had even less than that.  Just like some previous lessons, Miss Disa assigned everyone a word or two from our vocabulary quiz.  We then practiced by answering the words we were assigned upon popping up on the website.  I really enjoy this method of studying for the vocabulary quiz as you are not overwhelmed by studying all the words at once.  After a short break in which I rapidly tried to absorb as much information as I could, it was time for the quiz.  Although I was nervous at first, I thankfully managed to answer all my words.  I found that lesson quite stressful yet oddly exciting.

November 7 - What is Wrong and What is Right

Starting our lesson off with a nice game of Contexto was not as easy as we thought.  However, after plenty of guesses, and a couple hints from Mysha, we managed to get the word.  The word "Kangaroo" has been lingering in my mind ever since we decided that the word was related to an animal, but as the person holding the pen, I felt as though I had to fulfill everyone else's suggestions rather than my own.  Despite it being unnecessarily lengthy, it was an enjoyable game.

After finishing Contexto, we reviewed the answers of the AEP finals we had a couple weeks prior.  Although my score was lower than that of some of my other subjects, I was pleased with it regardless.  What I found interesting was learning how some answers were wrong and how some were right.  It is always enlightening to learn how you can improve and do better next time.

November 13 - Water.

We first started with yet another difficult game of Contexto, but managed to beat it in the end with the help of Aleena, who already knew the word.  It is these types of challenging Contexto games that feel thrilling and fun.  After that, we had a seatwork.  The seatwork was about water and different bodies of water.  I found it very easy and fun, so much so that I got carried away and answered as much questions as I could quickly.  With some leftover time, we spent the rest of the period playing Deluxe Waffle.  I found that day fun and peaceful.

November 14 - Chickens And Galaxies

Starting the day with Quordle is always a treat.  Of course, we successfully completed the game.  After on, we were faced with a pleasant surprise.  We were going to read Dogonews articles!  It feels like it has been forever since we have last done this.  The rest of the subject was filled with learning random, yet enthralling facts about galaxies and chickens.  After we finished reading the articles by taking turns every 2 sentences, we had to share something that we've learned from the article.  It was an incredibly enjoyable session of AEP, and I cannot wait to have more sessions like this.

Phew!  This blog was exceedingly extended in relation to all my past blogs.  That must be because I had to write about four days, rather than just two.  I sure do hope that reading this blog didn't feel like a chore.  The second trimester seems to be off to a great start, which only makes you ponder as to what we'll see next.  I have noticed that these past few sessions of AEP have been filled with unexpected, yet exciting things.  Life truly is full of surprises, and you must cherish each and every one of them.

IM THE MAP! - Janek - Blog 2 - T3 - AEP 10

Although maps have always held a peculiar charm for me, a fascination sparked during childhood by watching episodes of Dora the Explorer and her indispensable map, my relationship with them has evolved. Previously, a map was a guide to travelling to places, a tool for discovering new café locations on trips, or simply a way to marvel at rather weird corners of the globe. However, my recent academic assignments have altered my perception of maps, making them less of an object of intrigue and more a source of stress. Essays have made maps worse! Before, engaging with a map never entailed writing an essay. If my father discussed a historical map, I’d happily delve into a verbal explanation rather than penning an analysis. But now, as a student in an Advanced English Program, essays have become a standard expectation. Tackling these assignments has been a significant challenge, turning my once enjoyable encounters with maps into a draining task. It’s clear now that the essays, not my exhau...

Miss Disa is back! - AEP 10- BLOG#4- JANEK

Now that the exams have finally concluded and the stress has lifted, thanks to the break and the high AEP spirit, it seems inevitable that a blog post is in order! The past weeks have been some of the most unusual and unpredictable I've ever experienced in AEP. With a few new faces, Miss Disa's absence, and sudden activities, let's delve into the latest updates on AEP. A Sudden Disappearance? On January 7, just a day before AEP's classes resumed, I felt a sense of fear. Fear that I might have forgotten something, a feeling I often experience. Despite this, I had to enter the class with confidence. However, my expectations took an unexpected turn. Miss Disa was nowhere to be seen. She had apparently left for the UK, and has not yet arrived in the Philippines. This had left many of us  confused, yet simultaneously relieved. No work, no stress! All we had to do was sit in the Filipino class doing nothing. Initially, that's what we thought, until a notification popped u...

Nurin’s AEP Adventure (Term 3 #1)

Hey blog!!! Under some ciscumstances, I have relapsed into my old habits of procrascination and I’m really not proud of that :,) But that’s okay, I’m still in progress and of course I’m gonna have ups and downs. Embracing any chance to change myself for the better, always. Anyways, IT’S TERM 3 ALREADY?!?!? My my, time flies like a speed jet to space. I’m like a leap away from graduating and that thought scares me, in an exciting way. I cannot even imagine yet what the future holds for me and I’m eager to find out. For now, nothing much is going on except for preparations of the musical production on March 9th. So I’ve just been really busy with dance trainings and rehearsals here and there. Expectations are really high for the Grade 12 so we have to give it our best and perform to our fullest potential.  I have been putting off works in the last moments of previous term. I got my Cambridge exam result and it brought me back down to my dark pit, I never want to get out of there like...
