AEP Blog #1.1 “Nostalgic, adrenaline rush”

Welcome back, dear reader! The all new — well done — freshly cooked blog!

Thats right, I lost a lot of my ability to work with adjectives. I guess thats what three dashing months of using your comfort language (Your own version of english) does to you…I am not complaining though! Its always like this; frankly it is only a matter of getting back on that ‘academic brain’ you left inside your locker before moving up a grade.

Honestly, my jaw still drops to the floor every time I hear ‘Grade 11’ used to call me and my classmates. Its a horrible feeling I must say — knowing the fact that we are just merely 1 more year away from walking that ballroom aisle one last time. Although I must say how I am very much overjoyed over how our class is just a continuation of last year so the family bond is still strong! I do miss my other classmates who left unfortunately, due to several personal reasons; especially Dilara — but as they always say:

“Time heals all wounds.”

Right! So it’s about time I limit my sob story and dive right into the ‘good stuff’, the class shenanigans, updates and overall information that shouldn’t put a frown on your face because we must shoo away negativity!

One thing that really shocked me was how the previous ESL students had transferred to AEP. Making ESL not exist anymore…therefore making a few more people show up. This change really changed the classroom though, which felt very odd especially at the start. I think I’ll get used to it but it sure does feel different from all the previous years of being in AEP classes with girls being the majority — if not — the only gender there.

To my surprise, Ms Disa brought back vocabulary tests. Yes, those tests where we had to cram the day before and revise them right before class — only to have our brains restart right before the test beginning. To others, it may seem as something dreadful and tiring. But to me, I found it such a nostalgic idea. I remember doing these type of tests during my first year of highschool. My clueless little head lightly knocked with some warnings from my brother only helped me when I needed to feel relieved. Despite this, I still managed to cram so many words into my brain which was the unhealthy habit I have kept for the whole year.

Once covid said it’s greetings and shut doors to all face-to-face meeting possibilities; I treated vocabulary quizzes as something of less importance… besides, I would just repeatedly review moments before class starts and immediately answer the test. This made me forget the words I reviewed and the cycle just continued until we did not do vocabulary tests anymore.

To see that vocabulary tests are back, genuinely makes me happy — it seems like AEP is becoming more like the AEP I know and love so much.

What made me truly excited for this year was the blogs. Hearing that these blogs will be in more of a scheduled-like format instead of blogging once in a blue moon made me grin so much inside. I remember making blogs during the 7th grade and thoroughly enjoyed every part of it. Back then, there wasn’t any Padlet or ‘exit ticket’ as Ms Disa calls it; so to me — I used blogs as a way to thoroughly express my feelings and thoughts for significant AEP lessons that has happened throughout each 2 weeks.

It is very refreshing to see that Ms Disa has collected new games for us to practice our ‘worlde-not-so-wordle’ brains on. On the other hand, she kept the usage of Miro in the classroom which definitely makes things a lot more easier. Miro allows us to practice our vocabulary while having an endless limit with what, where and how we can write whatever Ms asks us to do.

Last week, we used miro to collect words we got from a practice sheet she gave us. We gave the definition, example sentence found from an article(More specifically the whole paragraph) and connect other information with other words. Like I mentioned previously, it has been a while since I have played and used advanced English so I found the questions quite tricky to break.

That is all I have in store for today! See you in the next one.

yet another blog for this week

yet again we do the thing where we type what we remember about the stuff that happened this week. So, there's not much tbh, there isn't much going on other than I picked up EP again since I think I'm suffering withdrawal with notoriety getting taken down and I'm cooking some video I made with someone showcasing some stupid shenanigans. So yeah is fine cruising so far (but so far)

Short. Sweet. Simple! - Chloe Lloveras- Blog 1 T1- AEP10

Back at it again! The new school year has begun and AEP along with it. But this year, it comes with a twist: a much more jam-packed schedule and more essay-writing. Did I mention that the vocabulary quizzes are back and that blogs will be more frequent now? No? Well, you're in for a treat!      We hadn't even met for the first session yet, but we were already juggling assessments like a syllabus quizlet, a "what's your English level?" test, and even a knowledge quiz about IELTS writing task one, something I haven't encountered before. When our first meeting did commence, it wasn't until a week later due to the heavy rainfall and strong winds so classes were canceled. As you might've guess, we were already behind and AEP hadn't even begun yet!  Before starting, Miss Disa established the basics for the new school year: 1. Every meeting will begin with a word game with a five-minute time limit. If we don't finish in time, we'll still mov...

AEP BLOG 3.1 - Summer Rose S. Valdez

The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind of maps and musicals, and it's quite fun.          March 5, 2025 - I Went on A Vacation...Somewhere      We began with a unique warmup this time.  By turns, we all had to say a new place on the map.  Each person has to retrace the steps of all the previous and so on.  I did not do well, but I didn't jot down notes of everyone's locations on my notebook anyway.  It was a memory game.  Afterwards, Miss taught us how one can remember things by remembering a place they visit often - by associating the different keywords with different objects or areas.     After that, we moved on to worksheets.  These worksheets involved maps and places and tenses.  For some reason, I forgot the difference between the past tenses.  Thankfully, though, I remembered what passive tense was.  Simple English fundamentals like types of...
